Here's one that I drew a long time ago for an old comic I had worked on through middle and highschool:

This was apparently drawn 9 years ago xD But yeah I think this is the only map I've ever drawn really haha

Gosh, I've been meaning to make a Map for DRGN/DRAGOONS for a Loooonnngggg time. But I can never think of the names for the locations other than what the main content(s) look like, and what elemental biomes there are within. Any tips on map making?

I made this a while back with Inkarnate5 to help me visualize where everything was in the main regions of the comic. Wouldn't mind actually drawing an updated version one of these days, but I've never done anything like that before. So I'm definitely also interesting in hearing any tips or seeing WIP stuff for mapmaking. ^_^

Wow, so much variety! Thank you everyone!

@tired_programmer Thanks for the subreddit! I just joined! As usual, I'll probably keep that for the winter, but it looks very interesting, actually I had to fight against myself not to read a few threads for the first page. Focus, Vothn, focus!
I remember the map from your comic, and the slightly disturbing 'no data' zone...

Haha that's precisely why I started by the small scale, local map: I already have most of my places in the comic, for that area. It would have made way more sense to start by the large, continent map (at least to have an idea of where my local map is placed in the landmass), but all I have is a very rough sketch for the continent. I'm not sure yet how many large cities I want (it's a continent with mostly city-states of relatively small superficies, but I want to do more research to have an idea of how small they can be, while remaining still realist).

@kaetana oh, I should try that for a first visualization of my continent map. Looks great! (I love the place names in your map.. I see a mix of influences that are very relatable  )

This is what I managed to do today.
Still more trying to find the style I want than actually working on the map. I think I will keep the sea more or less in that style, and apply the same style to the landmass.
I will also keep the symbolic plants (there will be trees too).
Text has to be written better than that, as you can see I can't write block letters, if I don't manage a nice readable cursive I'll abandon handwriting.
I need to find a neat symbol for mountains, and more difficult, for sulfur mines (maybe little pile of yellow slabs?)

Then the most fun, the marine monsters! There is actually one in the comic, so that's a tradition I will keep!

i have a map section on my compendium. as well a creature profiles, character profiles, royal line history and loads more

This is a map of the regio (comparable to a country) which the story takes place at, specifically at Grahein City.

Different colored parts show different district, while muted colors show neighboring country. Maiyean is a place known for its scenic hills and highlands, mountains, mineral and biotic resources, and their culture. It is more based on various Asian countries.

It's from a deleted extra chapter. I really hate making map; I know no shit about it and I'm bad at it.

PS: And I'm here making Polandball of my fictional countries like an absolute loser.

Looks good to me, very clear, looks like the practical type of map.
I'll keep it for later use.
I suppose you may have difficulties to believe that, but one of the reasons I'm impatient for fall to come is that. I'm getting so curious, more and more, about your story, but I know it's not the right time now.

What!? Don't tell me you throw away your old drawings!
That's like throwning away old family photos, their irrepacable : <

I did this a while ago:

It's a map of a Netherworld region from an old comic about reapers. I had a lot of fun with this, but it took me a while as I drew it by hand.

If you look closely at the borderline, it's supposed to be shaped like their worshipped dragon head with the palace and academia as the eyes (the dragon has 4 eyes, 2 on each side so that's why they're next to each other).
Also the train line is so short and near the cliff because there's portals on both ends of the tracks (so it's not like it's going off in the void).
There's a restaurant in the Lake Lorelei, and there's a mermaid performing some singing for the dining guests.

Loser?! It sounds super fun for me. This could be put into "extra" series or just uploaded at the end of suitable chapters of the novel. Like, you know, some serious anime series are ending every episode with a gag, made in much less serious style.

Yes, unfortunately, I destroyed the most of drawings I've made before 25 y.o. (I think), because of self-hate. Now I certainly regret about it! (but it's too far off-topic))
