This is such a good idea and I would check out you guys' works as well. If anyone is interested in fantasy, slice-of-life with lgbt characters, then I'd love if you checked this out.
Tapas used to promote a Premium and an independent novel in the daily app notification, but for whatever reason stopped promoting independents as far as I can see.
As saddening as this place can be for novelists, it's a really good bet for us, I think. I tried Tapas and Wattpad at the same for example and I'm nearly to 1k subs here. On Wattpad I was invisible.
A lot of good stories get lost out there. I personally get everyday in the fresh section and read whatever catches my eye because I am a creator but also a reader. And I think and I also see that in the novel topics that got started some people just promote their own novels and then leave it, not checking other's works. Mine is https://tapas.io/series/Sing-the-silence. And I hope we can help each other
Yeah, I've noticed that, too.
Hi there, Nouranmeidarous!
I can agree! Novels need a lot more attention and feedback around here ever since Tapas allowed more people to view and read them. I took a loo at your current novel and I'm starting to enjoy it so far. In the meantime, you can check out my series here called Sonia: Legends of Eternal Darkness. I hope you, and anyone else reading enjoys it, and possibly the other novels I have as well!
Be Toontastic~!
That is true ): However, at least we stand a chance here than other writing websites that promote others' novels and never once glanced at those who tried. Although the chance is small, it does make a difference when you see that one person has subbed to your work.
This is such a good opportunity for writers to discover and support each other. I am definitely going to check your novels. I'm a total newbie, just published my first chapter today. I would love some advice and feedback.
@RedN Yeah I think this is an awesome idea! I'm sorta new myself and would recommend @saintc and her works which are top notch.
This is my novel that i try to update as often as i can:
Thanks for the tag @onyefrankie
Here's my novel. It gets updated every two days.
I remember reading this some time ago and it's really good. Hope it gets known here too!
I've shared my novels often here, but I'd like to do so again because it has proven effective:
Tapas was established as a home for webcomics, and webcomics will probably always be more popular here than novels. Some of the creators here like ReroOnyx and ArushiAngelica create both, so they would have most insight than most of us about how novels compare in terms of performance. This situation isn't a bad thing exactly. It's just that novels have a tougher and slower climb on this site compared to the comics. On the plus side, some of the novels I've started reading here are true undiscovered treasures.
Actually, as slow as Tapas is for novels, I still found it better than any actual novel sites.I'd never imagine having 50 followers on sites like wattpad, but I managed to get that here in the span of a month. So truthfully I think that despite the site being comic heavy, it does a lot to promote novels as well. And there are indeed some really good ones among them.
I have the opposite problem on wattpad; over 400 followers but barely any who interact with my works.
Same as @spicy_sweets. 1.3k followers on Wattpad and 14 (amazing!) subs here. It takes effort here, sure, but I still kinda like it here.
I may have lucked out to be honest. I got two stories on the staff pick two weeks after I started, so perhaps that gives a skewed view of the actual struggle
Haha I honestly think there's a good bit of luck involved mostly, even on other sites.
Anyone here going to join the Writers Camp Contest? I want to submit but I'm choosing between two genres either Fantasy or Chick lit, what genre you guys think has more audience?
Hey! I'm joining the contest as well and in terms of more of an audience, I wouldn't be able to tell you as I've never gone near a chick-lit XD I tried once when I was younger but could barely understand what was happening.
I know a lot of people that read fantasy though so maybe you could merge genres?
This novel is about the spirit of the Earth making three teenagers into superheroes to fight monsters from ancient mythology. I hope you have fun reading it.
