Mature Comics (pushing it to the limit)

When I was researching where to post my adult Mature comic I wasn't sure how far I could "push it" and still meet Tapas requirements. I saw some examples on this forum but they were pretty mild. I posted my comic and it did indeed get flagged, but it was because they felt it was not censored enough.

Initially I just had a pixelated blur over everyone's junk but they said it needed to be censored more. So I put solid black bars and the word "censored" on 'em. BUT I did have fun with the censor bars and did it in a way that was still suited for the story and was kind of 'cheeky'. It was acceptable to them and they made it viewable again on the app and the web.

I’ve seen comics with nudity but it wasn’t sexualized.

I’ve seen comics with sex scenes but they covered the characters with a blanket or cropped out nudity.

However I heard the rules have gotten stricter so I don’t know if that will fly anymore.

Context is key.
Your comic is pretty erotic, even if you intend it to be a bit comedic/parodical as well.
So I can see the call for stricter censorship.

Per nudity: Nipples are fine!
And there's a difference between artistic nudity like Gustave Moreau's Aphrodite

and something that's hypersexual put in an very suggestive light.

The only things that have to be censored even behind the mature filter are "extreme violence, human genitals or sex acts including penetration". Nipples aren't genitals!

Not flagged and I don’t believe that it should, so I guess it’s within limits. (but then again, hardly anyone saw it, so that might be the reason too).

I'd say it's definitely abstract enough to not need any sort of filter/censorship! And the figure being silhouetted is perfect. It's like a sexual innuendo, you have to know to get it.

I agree. I think it was the right call on Tapas side and I appreciate the way they handled it. They addressed what would need to change, gave me a chance to make adjustments and once I did, it was back up.

So now on future episodes I know where the boundaries are but they seem to have a balanced view of allowing something more erotic like my comic and then the flip more artistic side.

From the direction I got the focus was on no outright nudity when it comes to genitals. The rest of the story they had no issues with. Her nipples being visible, even in the setting of a more erotic story like this wasn't brought up as a concern either. Which makes sense since nipples ain't genitals.

For what it is worth. I think Tapas is accommodating. But there are operating systems that will block the content of the Tapas app based on their own guidelines.
