Sup gents and lady-gents? What are you up to? I genuinely hope you are doing well. Welp, if you're on here and you're like me, you're probably looking to talk about yourself, pick other people's brain or just bored. Well, I'd think this is the right thread to do all of that, if you're up for a bit of reading that is. Seriously just think of this thread as a temporary blog for everyone to just set up shop for a bit and rant.
Anyway I have a comic called The Quos (I really wouldn't suggest looking it up unless you're intrigued by the possibility of seeing muscular men cry this month and a semi interesting magic system because even though I'm confident about the last episode and the one coming out this month it seems people don't have the patience, which isn't their fault) the art is fine now (I think, even though people still don't bother) and an at least semi emotional finale to the current mini-arc is currently in the works. But to be honest I don't think it'll ever get popular or even have a sizable following (for tapas, as in, like 30). Not that I expected it to have one in the first place. I upload Monthly, I don't color and my introductory chapters are only half functional and poorly illustrated even if they are narratively sound and poor sentence structure is also a factor so you can guess that I don't have many things that keep a reader intrigued. The few subscribers that actually interact with the comic are fellow comic artists, which is to be expected and to be honest past my sheer will not to leave something unfinished and my love for the characters I draw or think about everyday, they're the only aspect that keep me uploading (seriously, a big thanks to them I really can't do it without them)
It's not like I don't have Ideas or direction, and even though I don't think the actual quality is anything special the ideas like the magic system has actual sweat poured into it, I'm sure you guys writing serials or anthologies (seriously, anthologies are crazy-fun to read when people pull on your hear strings) are all the same way. You have characters with dreams and aspirations. You have themes you want to explore or you just want to draw two hulking men beat the shit out of each other over their deepest desires, but what would be the point if you're not sharing it with others?
I guess what lead me to make this topic in the first place is someone called @Akhdas a.k.a Bagas who makes a comic called Akhdas the madman that is inspired by the big 3 early 2000s shounen. The art in kinda awkward but his grasp on perspective, character design and page composition is great especially when compared to most of us here that makes comics similar to him or even most regular uploaders on the site. After 92 episodes he finally is making the transition to Webtoon because not a lot of people gave him the time of day on here. It sucks, even minus his actual character work, I think his actual use technical ideas of comics like everything mentioned aboved trumps alot of us. I really do hope he reaches more success.
Honestly I planned to at least have three arcs that'd all be concluded by the end of college, the first one is slated to be over in several months, but what about the tournament that I spent weeks planning and the escape finale arc I want to show off to everyone? Well, now I need to consider if it's actually worth my time. I still want to tell the story but again why should I bother? People are going to say "oh upload it for yourself" but at the same time I do that, and again, what would be the point of making something with nobody there to acknowledge it? It's the equivalent of being flat-out ignored. It's on no fault of the reader either. We shouldn't expect people who come on here mostly for a couple of genres to actually care about action, mystery or what have you. You can't expect them to actually care about your actual thoughts on what you made either. A lot of readers only are here for the gay anime boys, others are only here for the 4 panel comedies and are not at all interested in our improvement as writers, artists or people and that's not a bad thing. Though that doesn't mean it's an invalid thing to rant about
Anyway I'm about done. There's so much more to meditate over or rant about depending on the term you prefer. Just share your own things you want to just rant about. It's nice to have a nice deep discussion every once in a while, right?
