Multi or Single Page Episode Preference?

Hey, all~

As a new person on TAPAS I was wondering what the general consensus is on episodes with one page or episodes with multiple pages. I searched a few threads back in regards to what gets you in the fresh section and all that...

But what I was specifically wondering was AS A READER does seeing 300 or so so episodes with single page updates turn you off the comic automatically before giving it a chance? Or if you prefer small episode numbers with multiple pages?

My mindset is, "If it's good it's good" and I'll read no matter how it's formatted but if I'm being honest prefer that more tidy single episode containing various pages/updates.

It depends on the comic, like if its a slice of life then have 1 page per ep.
Also if there's lots of dialogue and reading or lots of action.

On story based episodes , personally having a ton of pages can be a turn off. As scrolling for a long time and I might leave and come back and still not be done with the current ep. I don't want to spend more than 5 mins per ep as I'm a busy guy.
Also I want to get immersed in the story and reading 1 page at a time is annoying so for the lesser important ones I might leave it a week or so and come back to binge read the 5 pages or so.

It also depends if you already have the pages or making them atm, though that's a creator perspective. But if its creating them and you stick to a schedual the readers will have expectations and well when those aren't meet people aren't happy.

Tldr: not too many, not too few pages. - Balance for the right comic.

Neither way acts as a turn off to a series for me, but I definitely prefer reading episodes that are a little longer than 1 page. I think like 3-5 kind of hits a sweet spot for me?

But that's only me as a reader... as a creator working a full time job and trying to entertain the notion of a social life and other hobbies, I struggled at times to even get a single page out of my series per week during its 2018-2019 run I tried doing 2 or 3 page uploads for a month or so but that just led to me consuming all of my backlog and struggling to keep up afterwards...

As a reader, I prefer reading more than one page but no more than five pages in one update. I think 2-3 pages is enough. As a creator I update two pages at a time and I give myself a buffer that is at least a moth and a half long.

I personally prefer multiple pages, or at the very least for the single page to be long vertically. I read on the app and sometimes it's not friendly to small images, and you have to actually put in an effort to turn the page.

I base my reading preference on print length or the length of a typical short story. In many cases, a one page story wouldn't even count as a drabble, as that would be a story that's essentially two lines of dialogue. Not saying it can't work: the six word story.

So generally I prefer reading things between 15-20 pages. Or around the length they might suggest for a Universal Jump competition.

I don't mind multiple pages, but unless it's a page format, I prefer 5 at the most in a single update. I'm a slow reader in some days, I don't want to leave the PC and forget where I was at.

300+ episodes waiting for me is a little intimidating, but if it's a good comic and with a good story, I'm in, just going to take more than a day to get through it all. And again, as long as the episodes aren't so huge that I'm forced to stop in the mdidle of one, individual pages is more than fine to read through just like in a regular comic website.

Now that they removed infinite scroll it's definitely better to post multiple since you have to physically push a button to do more, but they're planning to put infinite scroll back, from the sounds of it so...if that's the case then it wouldn't' matter too much, and would just be the authors preference, really, since if it's infinitely scrolling then it's all the same long scroll in the end.

For me, though, I prefer longer comics, I'm way more likely to sub if I see that multiple hundred number because it's like "oh good, I can read this on a long weekend"

So yeah I prefer multi paged episode comics, single page comics just look weird to me
