hopefully this isnt too out there for tapastic but i was looking for some good indie albums and stuff,, i really like halsey and melanie martinez so, draw inspiration from them! im lookin for some real obscure stuff so,,, like,,, no mainstream ppl (lorde, lana del ray, yknow.)

ya might dig either of these My Brightest Diamond or Cocorosie. Obscure is sorta relative, but I wouldn't consider either of them mainstream.

Here is just a few things I've been listening to lately.

The Antlers-Described as orchestral rock, very good to listen to while working IMO.

Dealership This song specifically got me into them. Sorta indie pop.

Johnny Foreigner Can never get enough of these guys. British noise pop. So very very British.

I love that EP! Unfortunately EPs don't usually come with inserts, and you probably won't find the lyrics online! The curse of this really obscure music. But I have a few ones I've listened for, let me see.

Not sure exactly how obscure a lot of these are, but here are some of my favorites. : D

I Monster - Literally any of their albums. They're my favorite band hands down, mostly creating more weird, pop-y music. (I think the term was "trip-hop") The best starter album would probably be "Never odd or even" as it's the easiest to find.

Venetian Snares - For when you're looking for something very noise-y and weird. I'm personally fond of the album "printf<"shiver in eternal darkness / n">;" though I really love most all of their work.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - You've probably heard of this one before if you're into "obscure" music, but they're still great, and I feel the need to recommend them. It's music you kind of have to be in the mood for, but man, when that mood hits it's perfect.

"From the Ground" by Heather Woods Broderick - I've only listened to the one album but it's great. Softer, and with a mildly unsettling undertone, it's really pretty music.

A Silver Mt. Zion - Great, beautiful music. No idea how obscure they are, if they're obscure at all, but their music is gorgeous.

It's hard to tell what is "obscure" or not, but here's some stuff I've been into lately that isn't played on mainstream radio where I live:

Elephant Revival - specifically Sing to the Mountain and Ring Around the Moon.

Daniel Norgren - Prettiest World.

And, you know, silly Swedish punk, like Där Jussi Står Staty by Mimikry.
