Musing Bout First (ART STYLE) Impressions

Yo, y'all I'm Lady T. and I muse about many things. I make the New Adult Fantasy webcomic MagicalMashup! and all kinds of fantastical and creative things.

Anywho, I'm in a mad introspective, and reflective mood, and been working towards some new goals. I was back to thinking about my style and what my body of work represents to others vs what I want/think it represents. I know how I perceive my work, but I want to get more input on external perceptions of what I make at a glance. Then I thought this could be a fun experiment to see how your body of work is perceived by others vs how you see it.

Directions:

Look at what others have posted and reply to with @ the artist and say a few words about what you see. This can be nouns, verbs, adjectives, phrases, or a full write-up, whatever works for you). Then Make a collage of your own work from the last 5 years (randomize it or pick your favs) and post it below if you would like to participate (Feel free to add input even if you aren't an artist. I'd suggest a 9x9 inch canvas or 9x10, but you do you, Then post it. Don't explain anything and see what words people use to describe your body of work shown.

What are the first thoughts that come to mind when you see my work?

Hm, quirky and colourful, but not in a silly way - like there's a sense of maturity and 'restraint' to it for lack of a better word? The very heterogeneous non-human traits with modern accessories feel characteristic of a 'genre' of very character focused work that feels like your work is about a lot of different, unique people, which I've seen from a few people

It also feels very 'illustrated'; like the colours are more 'artsy' and about being interesting to the eye than about reflecting reality, and your more clean, polished pieces have less of a 'shiny-desu anime uwu' vibe and feel more like your other, sketchier stuff. Feels ... zine-y? Like something that belongs on print

@Lady_T_Musings ooh, kinda loose and unrestrained, does that make sense? Playful but not in an unprofessional way. Expressive and colorful. I'm seeing a lot of different textures and really interesting light and shadow.

@TheLemmaLlama The first thing that comes to mind is quiet contemplation. I know that's really abstract but the use of soft colors and shadows really invite reflection. I also feel like the detailing is in a sweet spot of "just enough"

Falsely unassuming... Your art leads the viewer into a false sense of security by mistaking simplicity for shallow meanings or straight forward interpretations. Your work encourages deeper looking to see what's not being said. So much not said out loud, but shouted through color, expression, and body language. There is a lot of feeling behind them seemingly placid faces and a lot of it is communicated in the eyes. It's wild that you can say so much with quick gestures and easy going looks.

Your color choices are moody and introspective and compliment your line-art creating a kind of quiet melancholy full of meaning.

Your contours are light and fast but that doesn't stop your art from being detailed and express. some key words i think of are: essential, moody, ruminate, against all, perseverance, challenging perceptions

Humor is strong throughout your work and I find myself wanting to smile when I look at your art. Also fashionable and posh a-f. Your clothing designs really tell as much about your characters as their body language and that's neat! Your characters show a lot of contrast between each other and distinguishing traits that sets them apart form each other with their silhouettes which is also a skill.

Some key words that come to mind are: attitude, humor, fashionable, multicultural, and adult cartoons.
