Need a title for my scifi/mystery comic!

Hello, I'm Alala and I'm not really good with title ! The title I have at the moment(just to help me be organized since I have sooo many story ideas) is ''Curiosity Kills'' from the expression ''Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back'' but I HATE IT !!! Please help me

So my webcomic's description is "Cece’s best friend, Chana, is the 15th person to disappear in a month. Nobody is doing anything and there’s no lead. Cece put herself in trouble when she start to investigate on her own."

It's sci-fi/mystery comic where one of the main character, Cece, investigate on the disappearance of her best friend/crush. The world is solarpunk-inspired and the story involves aliens, space mafia/police, space travel, kidnapping(obviously), murder, corruption, etc. ! The second main character is Chana, who was kidnapped, and we see her POV after some times. The third and final(at the moment) is Siyi, a disabled human-alien hybrid, who's the 16th person to be kidnapped.

To have an idea of the world : Cece is in school to become a (space) flight attendant/hostess, Chana is in school to become a xenoanthropologist and is an ''Internet'' celebrity and Siyi is the first ever human-alien hybrid made in a laboratory !

The idea of sci-fi is more in the worldbuilding while the mystery theme(maybe a little bit of thriller?) is more important to the plot, since Cece essentially becomes a ''detective'' !

Please help me find a title !

I really like Case 15 and Lost in the Stars !! And also, I like Space Case and Without a Trace separately. As for Space Detective Cece: Origns, it fits too well haha Bc I want this story to be the first part in a serie where Cece becomes a Detective haha Thank you !

Is the title for that badass movie where Liam Neeson is a retired special forces commander, and his daughter is kiddnaped by some sex traffickers and Liam goes to the rescue makes them regret it. Is a cool action movie....

That's a movie. Not a comic on Tapas. 'Disappeared' is also taken on Tapas, but under novels. Not a comic title. 'Without A Trace' was also the title of a CBS police procedural show that ran for 7 years from 2002-2009, but again, not a comic on Tapas.

And just to split hairs, there are many movies, books, shows, etc. that share titles. In most cases at worst it just leads to audience confusion. Unless there is a specific active Trademark in place. You can't use McDonalds' jingle “I'm Lovin' It” for example. You may notice on any of the 'Taken' movie posters that have appeared over the last 9 years there is neither a copyright or trademark symbol after Taken because it's a common spoken word. That is why people copyright weird spellings. Like 'Syfy' channel now looking like idiots so they could copyright that over Sci-fi.

As a further example that's why I always post our comic title "What The Fott©" with a copyright symbol because our RPG setting "Battlelords of the Twenty-Third Century®" has been using the FOTT race in published materials since 1994.

Good point. But if Drabbitish`s comic reachs the mainstream realm and ends up making a movie, then the movie title will have to be changed. Taken is a great name, but is important to know the longterm consequences of choosing that name. My post was more of a longterm warning.

"The Walking Dead" is one of the top selling comics and tv shows every month and that's not copyrighted or trademarked.

And as I said in my earlier post- it wouldn't be illegal to call another movie 'Taken' if it got that far. There was an Emmy winning mini-series about alien abductions on sci-fi channel called 'Taken' in 2002.

No it wouldn't. Again, at most it would just lead to viewer/audience confusion. there would be nothing illegal calling another movie 'Taken'

Even if it's not technically illegal to have the same title as something preceding it (as titles can't generally be copyrighted/trademarked), it's best not to have a title too similar to something that is already popular. People will always think of the more popular one. And if it's an indie webcomic up against a blockbuster movie, the movie will win. Having a title the same as something else isn't necessarily bad per se, but it's just another struggle a creator has to surpass to get their own series known.

Like when Cera suggested Without A Trace I immediately thought of the TV series.

Might I suggest: No Trace in Space or Cece: Space Case

And would it be too punny to rename Chana "Trace"?

I really like those two ! What I really like about @Supaguy's Space Case: Without a Trace is that I could always use Space Case as a serie name, since I want to do ''volume'' where Cece(and later Chana and Siyi) are the one investigating.

And not at all haha I love puns !
