Need advice on hiring a colorist/editor

I am currently working on a webcomic of mine on Tapas, and I am considering hiring coworkers to lighten my workload a bit and keep it going.

Problem is that I have very limited knowledge on this front... I am willing to pay for the work, but would I not need to write a contract or some such to legally bind me to provide the money in exchange for their work? I do realise I could just commission a colorist, but I'd like a team or partner to help me work on my webcomic... Anybody have any good advice?

Even for commissioned work: CONTRACTS!!!

They're there to protect both you, and the commissioner. Look up a work-for-hire contract template online and adjust it to your own needs. Oh, and make sure the commissioner actually reads it properly too, it should be a two-way thing.

If you want a team to help you out, all the better! That's really awesome, but yeah, contracts are everyone's friend as long as you know what you're doing.
