My name is Neftali, but you may call me Nef for short. I write and draw MIDTOON. It is not fantasy, so it might not be your cup of tea, but here is how I make it:
1) On a small piece of paper, I jot the comic number (which changes every so often, when new ideas surface) and dialogue for the four panels. (My format is usually 4 panels vertical)
2) I add notes as to location (I call it sets, to parallel cinema) and action if needed.
3) I pull my background 3-D sets and position my sets in such a way that my characters and dialogue will fit and dialogue will flow from left to right. Sometimes this is not possible, like when the set is too small to allow good camera placement, or when a character absolutely needs to be in a specific position but I can;t adapt teh scrip to have hem speaking in the right order.
4) I take pictures of the sets in PNG format.
5) Using Manga Studio, I place the PNG images in my 4 panel template (or a modified version when rarely needed)
6) I sketch, pencil, ink and color in Manga Studio (save often, sometimes my computer crashes)
7) I export the whole thing as a PSD file including layers (Photoshop)
8) I use an old Photoshop I have to add lettering, word balloons, and a few special effects when needed (nothing special, just making a set look like it is night, turning a light on or things like that)
9) I save the whole thing as a Photoshop file, that I keep, and export a web version in GIF format.
10) I publish the GIF version on my website. www.midtoon.com
That's that. I am posting Season 3 episodes here at a little faster rate than in my site so I eventually catch up with my own site, but my update schedule outside of Tapastic is every 5 days.
I don't know how to link to my comic here, but the name is MIDTOON, if you care to check it out.
Thanks!
