New free ink programme - Protest

Hi.

I usually watch ads to get free ink (10 ink per ad), which I sum up throughout the year to support authors, especially during Inksgiving. Now Tapas has changed the programme and removed that possibility.
Why remove this opportunity? Can't a reader decide the way he/she wants to earn the ink? I don't want to complete offers - they are time consuming - worse than watching an ad. Buying ink is not in my plan. I really don't mind to watch the ads. Tapas should return that part. Otherwise, I won't be able to participate in next year's inkgiving and I believe that many other people won't too - this will reduce the participation and their yearly goal. This year I have more than 62.000 ink to spend - next year I won't have any ink to spend because I won't have any form to earn it freely (by watching ads).
Who else earns ink by watching ads?

Doing surveys is not only time consuming, but also they are often interrupted because I'm not in their target group. And eventually I get barely rewarded.

I do it, I need it. I don't have enough money to buy ink. Furthermore, the dollar has risen a lot in my country. I can't afford to do that.

Get the google opinion rewards app, do some surveys from there, and buy ink with that, that's how I got some ink before

Did they remove the option for ad watching from specific countries? It appears to still be available on the Tapas app where I live

If the free Ink thing for watching vids goes away I don't have another option for helping my friends out that i'm aware of. I don't have the money to buy ink sadly, if there are other ways of earning ink that are free i'm open to them I was grinding vids to get ink. I've tried some of the other stuff to mixed results.

I’m moving to Tappytoon now thanks to this update. Unless tapas brings back the watch ads for ink option, I’m not coming back.

According to their Facebook, the change is going to be, watch up to three ads to unlock 1 episode per ad. And it sound like the episodes are only unlocked for 72 hours. Tapas is now starting to sound more and more like Webtoon.

Honestly, I’d be ok if this was an option ALONG with the watch ads for ink option but to replace it for an option that only temporarily unlocks episodes is terrible honestly. Whoever thought this would be a good option for both readers and creators especially during inksgiving is horribly wrong.

No, NO! I SPOKE TOO SOON!

Part of the reason why I stay with Tapas was because I was able to support other writers and artists with ink I got from playing ads, and they were able to do the same.

I would occasionally do an offer, but as others pointed out earlier on this thread, it was time consuming. I got ink, but that was if you were lucky and didn't run into some game that would try and twist your arm into spending money to reach the required level to hit the goal to acquire ink. If you didn't, you would hit the time deadline and all the time spent grinding on that game was for nothing.

This is likely to be my last Inksgiving. Who knows, it might be my last year on Tapas too

UPDATE: I tried clicking on the 'Complete offers' feature and it doesn't even work!

How can authors who publish their comics in other languages be supported if the majority of readers speak English?
How will small, anonymous authors compete with big, well-known authors?
Free ink was a democratic way of gaining support.

What’s sad is that Tapas clearly does not care about their readers considering the present situation. I loved tapas because of how it made it possible for me to support creators and enjoy their stories, but this new update greatly disappointed me. Even if they fix this issue, I don’t think I’ll ever use tapas the same. A lot of people are rating Tapas 1 star on the app store either to prevent people from downloading tapas because of this update or to see if Tapas will actually listen to their readers and fix this issue.

Update: The complete offers now work.

This is really bad news, I would not have updated the app if I knew of this…

And these offers are unbelievable, I have to complete 20 group of questions, each group have more than 100 questions, and I have to answer them the “right” answer or else it won’t go forward to the next question. In the end I gave up after 3 questions…. Like seriously they don’t make any sense.

Let me watch ads or I am going to delete the app and find another way to spend my time

At least you can actually do offers. With this update I don't only not have videos anymore, but can't even open offers (well, I CAN open them from big weekend banner "earn x2 ink!", but not from the 'Free ink' page)

The only solution I've seen that has worked is to google an old version of Tapas and disable the auto-updates option.
