Something else you can do is highlight the text of someone else's comment, and a "quote" option should pop up above it! Click on that, and you can quote them, which also pings them (as you can see)!

And yeah, the tapas forums are small enough that it's normal to have the occasional chatter threads and intro threads mixed in with the Talking Shop type threads!

I write novels. Pretty new to it, though, so now I'm working on completing my first book. It's always fun to share things online and like you said, it's one of the best ways to improve!

Hiiiiii I'm good, how about you? It's really nice on here! Everyone is so kind to each other from what I've seen and I love the quick and easy reads it focuses on. As much as I love long novels, some times it's fun to sit back and just enjoy an easy snack! (I've already started talking like a Tapas-er. Wait, what are we called on here?)

Was curious one day a while back and joined. Then I forgot about it until one of my friends on Wattpad posted about it so I finally gave it a proper look over and it seems really cool!

Making novels. Also here as a reader who really likes novels and hoping to get into comics. I used to be into comics and would draw my own, but the art was terrible hoping to maybe learn a thing or two from the creators on here in the future! And how about you?

You will probably see me around on the forums if you keep up with the comicking side of things, haha! I'm a bit of an odd one out on here; I create the webcomic Runewriters, which used to post on Tapas and no longer does, but I still like stalking the forums to talk shop with other creators. :>

Posting your novel on Tapas is pretty straight forward. When you get into advanced features like tipping, including pictures in a novel, and sound effects, you get into a moderate learning curve, but the forums are very helpful with that. Best of all, Tapas allows you to retain your distribution rights. If you upload now, you can still qualify to enter into a writing contest which is going on right now.

The contest that I mentioned is called the 3rd Writers Camp. It overlaps with national novel writing month, but the Tapas contest does not end until January. I think if the camp as a community-wide writing exercise, and the contest is a part of it. Prizes are awarded based in both subscriber count and by selection by the staff. Entering is a 3 step process. First, start a novel by uploading a first chapter. Secondly, find the tag function for the series (at the bottom of the web page when you create or edit the book) and tag it with Nov18WritersCamp.
