Non monthly payments on Patreon?

I am looking to push a bit harder for backers on my Patreon in the next few months. but before I do I am in two minds if to turn off the monthly payments and charge by the Item. Has anyone done this and is it better to do so rather than asking for a monthly amount for patrons?

That method is tricky, I feel. It depends how much you post per month. As a backer, I rather the consistent one time charger per month than getting charged each time content is posted and the flux of more one month, less another, average another month.

My patreon page is setup monthly, and it's a tip jar account where any donation (from $1-more) unlocks everything.

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG or if this has changed, but last time I was reading up on this, Patreon also allows backers to set a monthly limit -- which makes sense, it prevents a creator from going wild and uploading 500 things in one month and backers getting charged for them all -- but also means that a backer could pledge $10 per thing, but also have a monthly limit of $20, so that if you upload four things that month, you'll only get paid for two of them.
It's a good thing for Patreon to have in place, but it does mean that if you upload content several times a month, it might not be as good for you, since you'll get paid less than it seems like you "should" with the backers you have.

It does have that feature however, I still prefer knowing the consistency on a monthly charge.

yes this is what I'm wondering about as I use my patreon for caricatures mainly and I want to put lots more on.
