Not everyone knows to hit the like button, and that’s ok

So I just figured something out, and it made me feel sort of dumb, but I thought Inshould share. Incase there where others having this problem.

I have been getting new subscribers, and as is routine I send thank you art. I got responses on a few saying they really like the comic, etc. However I noticed that the new subs didn’t like any of the pages. I also noticed that despite the high number of subs I have low interactions. I tried the usual stuff, asking questions in the author notes, and being sure to reply to the comments I do get, but still not a lot of interactions.

Today a Instagram follower of mine sub to my comic, they where on mobile so I could not leave a message on their tapas wall, instead I went to message a thank you to them on Insta. They replied back quickly saying they really liked it. The tapas profile is new, they made it today, again I noticed no likes. So I got over my shyness and anxiety and told them, hey there is a like button on tapas too, it a square with a heart in it, and it really helps the comic creators if you press it.

They where more than happy to do it, they where just not aware of the button...

So I have decided I will be adding a small note at the end of my episodes to remind people to like these page. First a I thought this would be pushy, but it seems that people may not be aware, especially if it’s their first time using tapas.

The like button is hard to notice, i love how you can give like on instagra just by tapping twice. It would be nice if i could do the same here on tapas

If you hit the heart of like you show some love to the creator and you show what you have read.
Please hit the like button every time you read something in the Tapas.

I think that might be the case for webtoons too. A bunch of people read my comic and subscribed (61 of them), but only a handful manage to like an episode. That, or I have a truckload of dead subs.

I don't have too much of a problem on Tapas though. Most subscribers tend to like my episodes. Then again, I only have a handful on Tapas

Something like instagram's like system would work fine, I agree.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with explaining how to like things here on tapas, especially if your traffic comes from outside sources. Just like how most creators have to explain how tipping works.
I don’t think chaning the set up of the likinf system would really make a difference one way or another. If someone doesn’t understand the importance of liking, even if they see the button they won’t click it.
