Ugh, I didn't realize that was the case with Wattpad and mature or erotic stories. I might have to move some of my work.

Which sucks, because I like telling stories that have emotions and erotic content.

Not sure what I'll do if that's the case. The only other place I post written work is tumblr, but that's also a slippery slope since they banned NSFW content. (Though I think that's specifically visual. But idk since I still find some pretty suggestive stuff floating around.)

I would advise moving Erotica works to Inkitt (but NOT take publishing deals from them, they're shady).

My boyfriend wants me to write Erotic content and I honestly don't mind. It's an art of itself to make good erotic content, some believe is easier to write than other genres or look down on it. When it in fact in some cases make both consumers and creators explore their fantasies safely.

Though, I researched more of the Wattpad drama of removing content, it appears they broke the TOS mainly and spoke out about it on social media. Which has happened with other creators as well (like a former well-known user like janeconquest).

I haven't had any trouble with my erotic content here on Tapas. Sure it's not complete erotica and has a deeper plot, but I don't pull any punches in my dozen or so sex scenes.

(Also Hi! Been reading Desiderium for a while now and I really like it!)

I'll look into Inkitt, thank you! Hah, my erotic content is specifically in the vein of romantic monster x human. So, I understand exploring fantasies. lol

I'm just concerned about losing a place where people can easily access my content. Trying to build up an audience becomes difficult when stuff has to move.

@joannekwan I've been tempted to post my writing on Tapas. I just hesitate, since I can get really explicit and don't really use flowery language - like general romance novels - during sex scenes.

(Also, thank you for reading Desiderium! I'm glad people are enjoying it. I've read a bit of Secunda and I've enjoyed your work, too!)

@erudenedure You're welcome! I explore dark fantasies as well in my work. Fluff doesn't often is at the forefront of my stories (though, some books I've planned are more feel-good-stories than others).

I definitely understand your worries, I used to post on Wattpad only but after their data breaches, removing of Newsfeed, removal of the forums, and elitists behavior from people in power, I came to realize cross-posting was the only smart option. I'm slowly building up a reader base on Tapas, Inkitt, and Scribble Hub. It takes time and effort but so worth it in the end.

Maybe, but the nude ones haven't really been... actual nudity so far? Aside from mine (Which did have a content warning at the time, and was marked as mature.), the worst I've seen have been pages showing a side boob, or cleavage, maybe a butt. If a kid gets upset by those they're either too young to be on the internet, or are extremely sheltered, and shouldn't be on the internet. I haven't seen gore aside from people being flagged for small amounts of blood, maybe a cut or something. You could put a warning for those, but if it's a horror or action comic it would be silly not to expect something like that. People do get hurt in those kinds of stories. Even though a lot of the supposed scenes that were flagged were kissing, or hand holding scenes, I don't think creators should put up a warning for having LGBT+ situations and characters. If someone takes issue with that it's their own problem they should get therapy for, rather than trying to sanitize Webtoons of it.

Who knows what the truth is. For all I know a bunch of LGBT+ content creators could have just been blowing stuff out of proportion, or jumping on a hate Webtoons bandwagon. It just seemed rather suspicious since it was a lot of people, and there seemed to be a pattern with downvotes and flagged episodes/pages. Either way, Webtoons sucks, the staff need to get their shit together.

I don’t even know if it’s kids?? I guess I can eliminate troll because they would have probably then flagged all my content. I supposed with the rip-off Disney style I draw with, people might think it’s going to have Disney levels of sex/gore/what not and their morals, but that’s a pretty unreasonable expectation. Hopefully who ever it was just backs the heck off and doesn’t come near my content again. I think adults can be that way too, especially when they assume the content is going to be friendly to everything (despite the very intense warning I gave after the prologue that warned of the issues that would be explored)

I totally agree about the lgbt+ Content, it’s really unfortunate that they seem (at least in certain situations) more targeted than the heterosexual content. I do hope maybe if enough authors push back against these unreasonable policy expectations, And the way just ANYONE can flag episodes no matter who the person is, we can move somewhere with it.

Fff I guess I shouldn't just target children. On the Apple app store Webtoon is rated 12+ while Tapas is rated 17+, with the supposed majority age demographic for Webtoons being 14-243, with Tapas supposedly being 18-243. I'm not sure how true that is, but if you've been posting on both sites long enough you can kinda tell the differences in maturity levels in just comparing the comment sections.

Either way, I'm sure there are some petty, or overly prudish adults on there going around flagging episodes. It doesn't help that Webtoons isn't very personable, there isn't a real community, and there's no real way to get to know the creators unless they drop their social media or you manage to get them to talk to you via the comment section. (which is hard to do thanks to creators never being informed of new comments.) It makes treating the creators like machines making products a little easier, causing less personal issue with flagging "unsavory" content.
It would help to get enough disgruntled creators together to make that push for better content policies (and maybe a notifications system), but doing that would require more effort since there's not a good way to get ahold of anyone on there. In the past I've thought about some kind of presentation or slide show discussing the major issues with Webtoons that could be spread around social media might help, but you would need enough people willing to share the presentation and complain to the staff for it to really matter.

Anyways, I hope Webtoons gets their shit together someday, because these double standards are ridiculous.

But there's cleavage on the censorship stamp! Your pages/episodes will never see the light of day if you use that!

Better put a censorship stamp on that censorship stamp.

It would be really ridiculous if they did. Basically it would mean no corsets in any comics. It is inconvenient/unfair/frustrating but I would say don't worry about it, create and make the comic you want to and don't let fear of arbitrary censorship affect your decisions or give you anxiety. not worth it. just deal with those problems when/if they come. Technically Webtoons could remove my entire comic series based on character design alone but I can just hope that they won't do that...

Nah I mean you’re right, I don’t think it’s kids although could be, just from my unfavourable interactions with adults more than teenagers I have a kind of bias against them (even if I am one :||). I am ALWAYS talking to people in the comments but that’s because I love comments they give me life ^^ honestly you got my support! I think we should get this going, as long as people come on and it’s courteous it might work ^^

I’d say it’s better to not censor yourself and deal with the problems as they arise (forgiveness > permission), depending on the consequences of course. But this is so silly, the image you posted isn’t sexual in any way and I didn’t even notice her boob. Maybe we should just remove women from media all together, because their bodies are just too problematic... This just makes me so frustrated and I hope that creators don’t start to censor themselves

That's some petty A-F stuff to get flagged for. This isn't even for titillation, just a natural pic. Like wow... Did you hear anything back yet?

Honestly it seems really benign, I didn't even register the nudity at all until i read the post

My 1 and only story that I ever submitted to webtoons got taken down after 3 days for violating their policy on violent content, and from that day on I just knew that webtoons wasn't a good fit for me.
