Not many Followers on Tapas- How do YOU do it?

What are your methods of gaining followers here on Tapas. I would really like to reach 100 followers. I've had my comic posted for about a year now and I only have 39 followers. I realize that my comical superhero story isn't exactly Tapas material, but I assumed I would have more than 39 followers by now! What are your methods of gaining more followers?

Here is my comic if anyone wants to check it out and give any tips or advice.

Joke aside, you need extensive advertising.
Advertise your comic on dA, facebook, twitter, instagram, your own site/blog, other art communities, etc. Tell your friends, co-workers and all.

Unfortunately it's very luck-based, however, there are some things you can do to increase your chance of getting seen.

Tags are a very helpful tool that you should take advantage of. Tag your comic with anything you can think of (if it relates to your comic, of course).

Don't be afraid to advertise and promote it on social media and the Tapas forums. Make sure to do this in forums and conversations where it makes sense and isn't obnoxious or forced.

Let me tell you, getting subs at first is hard, the best way to get them at first is making some friends around the froums and abusing a bit of the promoting threads.

I noticed once you get over 50, it kinda starts going up on its own, that's no reason to stop promoting though.

Other thing you could do is working a bit for the bigger peoples, doing guest artist for some comics, maybe get someone bigger to promote you, maybe not SUPER big, but bigger than your comic. I don't know, maybe someone with a more papular comic who has been following you since the start, considers himself a fan and maybe a friend, someone who also comments a lot about fluffy.

Honestly patience and getting to know people. Granted, I don't have a billion subs or anything like that but, I've just been talking with folks and getting to know them. It's been a lot of fun to make threads, participate, and to meet new people. Doing that has really helped me. Plus, I've started asking my followers if there's something they'd like to see. Recently with my novel, my readers wanted to see concept art, so I'm making that. I sort of treat it like a conversation and so far, it's been a fun one.

Maybe do some Summer promotions across your different platforms. There are lots of ways to promote yourself and, sometimes your audience helps you in that, when you communicate with them and let them know how much you appreciate them who knows, maybe they share your work? Just keep crackin' you'll get there!

HAHA or just go the BL route and send Jay on a smoldering date with Archie. That'll boost your numbers lol.

Tapping and know what is popular in the reader market. My first series did fairly well because it was a parody/comedy series done in an anime style with a pre-existing concept that people already knew about, so it was easy to keep the ball rolling. That series managed to hit around 700 subs within the year. I think part of it was the attractiveness of artwork, if I may say that about my own art >_>

I discovered the mobile app Amino. It's an interest-based community. They have a community for manga, comic artist, comic maker, webcomic, etc. I joined those aminos and advertised there. I didn't gain 1k subscribers right away but it was very helpful to get more exposure

Just by being more active and engaging with the community I've have gained more subs. I really enjoy interacting with various people and checking out their work. I have found since I stopped focusing on just gaining subs, it's become much easier to get them. Now, I simply just focus on my work and engage with others in theirs as much as I can.

Have you done a giveaway on Tapas before? I've done them on other platforms like instagram and facebook, but never on Tapas. How do you get the word out? I know you can't promote them in the forums

I've never done a give-away but, I do like to ask my followers what they'd like to see so it can be a two way conversation, I suppose. I think the best way to get the word out for anything is post an announcement IN the comic itself and so your audience who is reading can see it in print form. You can also post an announcement on your dash (just make sure you hit the bell so your audience gets notified).

And of course, spread that announcement throughout your other social media.
