Hello!

I'm making my novella (Boil Frogs Slowly) into a visual novel and needed a place to be excited about it! I originally posted it to Tapas a long time ago and it's changed a lot since. The current version is not available online atm  but I will post a few sneaky screen shots of the WIP.

Please let me know how to art style feels. I want to know if it's got the right vibe for what I'm trying to do.

I also wanted to thank everyone on here for being super cool and supportive!

love the art style and the overall vibe so far!! How far along are you in the project?

I've got the basics of act one (11 scenes/chapters) fully coded and am playing catch up with the assets and UI. I'll be starting on act two probably next month and it'll take twice as long because important player decisions will start happening in there and programming that is more complicated to keep track of.

I'm generally new to backgrounds but I want the perspectives to be funky art house-esk so those are going to be difficult. I'm not 100% sure if I should be going for painted with outlines for the backgrounds or if I should scratch the outlines to give it better focus. That way the characters stand out more???

I kind of like the blurry look but it might not blend well with the character style:

I think the blurry backgrounds work, especially since you can still see the general shape and essence of what you want!

love the art style, its giving dark mystery, i like the lines background it gives me a better idea of what things are in the room

Hell yea! That's good, that the vibe matches. I'll have to sketch out a few more backgrounds to make a decision on how blurred they should be. It might vary by the tone for the scenes

I love the distinctive moody feel to this art. I feel like I've seen things that are drawn like this but somehow the way you do it makes it feel very different from whatever else I'm thinking of.
