I was looking through a post about comic artists' Instagrams, which got me thinking about this. It seems like social media is mandatory if you want to attract readers. As much as I might want to throw a fit about this, my not liking it is not going to change anything, so I might as well stop worrying and learn how to love the bom—I mean social media.
I have an Instagram, but it seems fairly useless for me, as a writer, because it's such a visual medium. I was trying to make time to draw some things and post them there, but it's a huge (time) investment for little reward, and I'm not a very good artist.
So how do my fellow prose writers promote on social media? What platform is your favorite? Do you post screenshots of your drafts, memes, art you've commissioned or made yourself? Do you promote your writing on the same accounts you use for more personal posts or keep your writing social media separate from personal? How do you find other people to follow? Are you active in communities on your social media or do you mostly just post and ghost?
