Ooh good idea! This looks both helpful and fun ^^
There are more than three protagonists in my story, but I'll just go over the main trio of siblings.
Kassia wants to create a safe, peaceful life for herself and her loved ones.
But: She becomes stiflingly overprotective and holds herself and others back from progressing out of an intense fear of loss. This fear makes her anxious, paranoid, distrusting, and negatively risk-averse. It also causes her to adopt a negative and fatalistic mindset regarding friendship, as she distances herself from others to avoid becoming emotionally attached. She is over-independent to a fault, wanting to do everything on her own so as not to risk the lives of others. Additionally, her (near fanatic) loyalty to her family causes her to go against her morals and fall into an "ends justify the means" mindset when necessary to protect them.. pushing her into a deeper turmoil.
Den wants to feel secure, in control, and respected by those around him.
But: He becomes coldly controlling and self-justifying in a way that pushes away the people he cares about, brooks no criticism, and leaves no room for communication or any thoughts that aren't his own. His single-minded efforts to gain control and power for their own sake make him lose sight of the bigger picture of what matters. Coupled with a desire for respect and social status (stemming from insecurity), he gets wrapped up in trying to fulfill societal expectations and impress his peers at the cost of his morality and his family's happiness.
Nora wants to please people in order to gain their respect and acceptance.
But: Her desperation to impress others and prove herself makes her dangerously reckless, thoughtless, and prone to risk-taking. Her insecurity and people-pleasing tendencies also make her especially susceptible to peer pressure and an easy target for manipulation, as she is so eager for validation that she would go to dangerous extremes to get it. Other characters with malicious intentions are aware of this trait and use it to take advantage of her, using her for their own ends while pretending to be her friends. She winds up serving the wrong side because they make her feel good.
