Now that Tapas is shutting down… where are we migrating?

[kokichiluvr]

Hi guys, I'm still trying to process the news, it left me heartbroken... it's been a year since I joined Tapas and it's been great, met a lot of people and I loved being here... and I really wanted to ask other novel creators (comics too), where are you planning to migrate?

I'm only familiar with Wattpad but it feels so quiet and lonely over there, please let me know your thoughts and where you're heading, also dropping my linktree here just in case: https://linktr.ee/dev7sita

I hope you guys are doing okay with the news and find a great place to migrate.. T.T

Comicfury seems okay... I see a few ppl from here over there.

Im considering going to globalcomix too, not 100 Percent on that though. The biggest problem is you get used to how a site works and then its gone, I'm still getting used to how it goes on comicfury

[ShidoDraws]

I don't want to upload my comic on too many platforms. I'm still posting on Webtoons, so for the second platform I'm going to be posting on is NamiComi as the replacement for Tapas. The only downside about NamiComi is they don't have that separation so it may be harder for people to spot novels or even, novels most likely won't perform too well on the site. Guess we'll see if that'll change in the future.

Though, I did visit Pinya, it looks cool. They have two categories, comcis and novels.

I've gone and established a presence on Comic Fury. They also just yesterday updated the site to allow for 25 images in a single post/page. So that should help accommodate the people that use the scroll format instead of a traditional page layout.

My comic Elven Crusader is already on Comic Fury and Global Comix (and recently webtoons) at the same time as Tapas. Now, I have to move Chion and Kobi to Comic Fury and Globalcomix (it's already on webtoons). I'm putting my comics on Manga Studio Plus, Webcomic Studio. Making my own website to host my comic is a crapton of work.

Otherwise and f that, I'll self-publish them on print or sell it online on Kindle or Ko-Fi....going the route the authors of Bone and Elfquest did.

The rebooted Elsie will be going to lemoon.io, Fables.pro and Inskra. And I’ll be drawing it slowly and this time I’ll make sure I take care of myself and take breaks.

[ToxicRamen]

I still have Webtoon and Global Comix accounts but I asked if there other webcomic hosting sites. I heard that Comic Fury is a good place to go to.

[LouisWinter]

Well dang. There's always Webtoons but I always thought Tapas was better

[SnarkyLisa]

In addition to my pre-existing Wattpad and story Tumblr, I also now have a NovelCult account!

[Zhengo]

I was already crossposting on Namicomi for a while, so I will probably focus my efforts there now. I may look into Comicfury but not anytime soon probably

[Palamon]

Probably Inkitt, if that doesn't work out, Pinya or Novelcult.

[MattiesMoments]

I will keep posting here on Tapas until it's gone, but I have also created a pinya and a novelcult.

I would first like to recommend NamiComi because:
They're anti AI, they got this cute feature where you can upload your own stickers and emoji's that followers unlocks and can use in comments etc. You can create your own organizations which makes collabs easier too! Feels like a very social platform!

Here's my organisation, where my titles are listed:
https://namicomi.com/en/org/swanboat

Secondly, Pinya, because a lot of Tapas users are doing a takeover there almost atm. It's a new platform and their discord is really nice and they're very fast to implement people's suggestions for the app. So it feels like a nice opportunity to help them grow!

Gracias for the suggestions! I do think Pinya looks like a good one for me, and I will be arranging the jump! ^^

Way before Tapas announced they were shutting down, my best friend suggested hosting my comic on a self-hosting platform like Comic Fury, which I've started using recently to archive The Shapes. Well-timed decision if I'll say!

Sucks that a over a decade worth of inactive webcomics will become lost media when Tapas closes just like with Smackjeeves. Maybe I should preserve as many as possible on the Internet Archive.

Just a note that hosting on Comic Fury isn't exactly the same as self-hosting. You are still privy to having to move your comic in the instance if Comic Fury also shuts down (not that I think it would happen anytime soon). True self hosting is paying for your own domain and server costs to host your comic on your own website. Comic Fury still offers the customization aspect so it feels more like you have your comic on your own website, but note it doesn't actually give you the exact same benefits that self hosting does.

Any place where I can make novels?
