Hi Tapas creators!
I'm Max Kim, 29, based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and I'm currently on a journey of helping emerging artists polish, elevate, and (hopefully!) sell their stories.
Right now, I’m offering free pro-bono editing to get more hands-on experience and sharpen my editing skills. This is open to any manga or comic projects with at least five pages drafted and scripted. Here’s a quick rundown of what I can help with:
Developmental Edit
Focus: Big-picture story elements like themes, character growth, and overall message.
Goal: To answer “What is this story really about?” and make sure that shines through clearly.
Example query: “What does this meeting between X and Y mean for X’s journey? Should readers feel what X feels, or take an outside view?”
Example suggestion: “This reveal could be more impactful if we started the story in a different place to build suspense. Can I offer an example?”
Structural Edit
Focus: Story flow, plot organization, and character motivations for clarity and pacing.
Goal: Help you present the story so readers can follow easily without changing major parts.
Example note: “Switching the order of these scenes might make the end of the chapter stronger and reduce confusion.”
Line Edit
Focus: Language, word choice, dialogue, and narration. Great for improving dialogue or if English isn’t your first language. Note: This usually happens after bigger story edits as language often reveals deeper issues.
Example note: “This sentence sounds a bit harsh in this scene. Let's soften the tone here.”
Art Critique
I’m not a professional artist, but I understand how tricky critique can be. I always ask about your goals before offering feedback.
If you’re interested, reply here or DM me and we can get started. Eager to see some original works!

P.S. I’m also available for narrative consultation and story coaching whenever you want to brainstorm ideas. Just let me know what you're working on and bounce ideas off of me!
