Lol, thank you. But to be honest, Mrs. Moon inserted herself into the story personality fully developed, I feel like I didn't design it all, so for the life of me, I only know her backstory as far back as her marriage nearly three decades ago. I have no idea what in her childhood made her the way she is, though I have a very vague inkling.
Andrew on the other hand, I do understand, though he was also added on a whim. I think the oddest thing about him is the effect of being raised amongst old people without any children his age (or even close) around him. So he was babied, but also only had old people as behavioral examples.
I feel your struggle with Marana, some characters I've understood from day one and other's I'm still worried about how they appear. Not so much on 'Damsel in the Red Dress' as I've gotten into a flow with writing the novel now and understanding the cast. But with the series I'm currently working on, my first official comic, virtually all the characters were too flat when I pulled them out of their original draft I wrote four years ago (at age fourteen,) and I'm having to flesh them out now so that the story will be actually good. Legit the best character in my first few attempts was Jinwoo's sister, and interestingly, she was the only one added from scratch in the new draft. Maybe it's a sign I'm a better writer now and was stumped by trying to work with the boxed mix OCs my younger self left me.
