Oopsie! Comic Fumbles

Just wanted to start a fun topic about making mistakes in your own comics ... and maybe not noticing until way later.

I wanted to start this thread because I realized last night that there's something missing in a number of comics, that I just totally looked over! Whooooops.

I have a long and storied history of putting the thumb on the wrong side of the hand, in many pages in the first chapter of my comic. Adam Freyr has become my go-to guy for noticing these errors, but some were so blatant, everyone noticed them. Now I have an editor who catches them, but I'm also on high alert for misplaced thumbs, and the second chapter had just one noticeable incident.
Maybe you wonder what the cause of this misplaced thumb saga? Besides my general direction-challenged ways, I believe it also was a result of using my left hand as a model when I was drawing the character's right hand... >.>;;;

Um, well so my characters are anthro cats and I sometimes forget to draw their tails in. Lol....Also sometimes I make mistakes in the backgrounds, like a missing item or something. ┐(￣ヮ￣)┌

I totally know what you mean......I'm like the worst speller, I've had misspelled words in comics that I posted months ago.

I always forget what font size I use, there's a page waaay in the beginning where the buttons on a character's coat switch sides, I've got a terrible habit of making the index finger longer than the middle finger, and everyone's fingers magically and constantly change from 4 to 5 -- although that one's because I just don't care enough lol.

I tend to turn some of my layers on and off while making the comic, and there were two instances when I uploaded a comic page with an entire layer missing. The most recent one had my details layer, so everyone's clothes were just plain. I only noticed a few days later, when I looked at the page again. >__>

The missing door of page 12 was only recently rectified!

And drawing the same dead body over and over... it's hard to get it lying in the same position ever time. MAN this is a long scene.

There was a time that I forgot to add shading to some panels, only to realize it several days later.

Similar to @Strontium's fumble, I tend to draw an extra finger if I'm not paying attention. After each drawing, I have to count the fingers of all the hands to make sure I haven't drawn any six-fingered evil twins xD

Door knobs, powerpoints, number plates on cars, signs in streets and on adboards in football grounds... the thing that undoes me though, is spelling mistakes that go unnoticed for hours.
IE are the worst.

I'm usually pretty good with spelling too.

I forget a lot to draw Echo's necklace. It's always on the sketch or the line so it's okay, but one or two times I completely forgot it.
Also, sometimes one or two things move in the background. It's not a big deal, but things are sometimes moving from one to two meters in the characters' scale.
I got problems with buttons too. I can't remember the number of big buttons some clothes or cloacks have, and most of time, I just put a random number.

lol I keep looking at the title to this thread post like someone's calling my name, "Huh? My comics Oops, are you talking to me?"

I do the occasional grammar and misspelling. English (even though I speak it and live in America) isn't my strongest subject.

I've also accidentally misnumbered my pages before and scared my readers that they were missing a page of the story. lol

And a few times, I've forgotten to fill Oops' triangle patches on his cheeks black. (They glow white when he's about to do a magical blast)

All of these have been fixed the moment I've spotted them, hopefully, I've found them all.

Holding weapons in the wrong hand, birthmarks, wounds etc in the wrong spot... you really have to pay attention to details like that. Because your readers do - and won't be afraid to tell you about it!

One of my character from Wonderers has pants with large stripes, I always change the stripe without noticing.
Ate the beginning of the story he also had a drawing on the back oh his shirt that disappeared later with no reason.
Another character, from another comic, has glasses. He sometimes lose it.

I also remember a page in which the two characters moved on the bench they were sitting on from almost two meters.

We have had grammatical errors, had clothing wrong or forgot some element that was supposed to be there (blood, jewelry, etc) and we keep drawing characters using guns wrong. Or the newest fiasco. Apparently the name "Gaylord" can be used in a negative way. Whoops.

I write really fast and think of multiple dialogues the characters are having, so I almost always forget to write certain words in sentences. Things like " we need go to the lab" or something. And I never notice until I halfway though coloring. I'm sure other mistakes have been uploaded past my notice.

I know one time I did this animated comic for Uzuki that was in full color, and I didn't realize until a while later that on one of the frames, I forgot to color in Uzuki's scar, so it flashes from black to red to black to red and back over and over again.

It makes her scar look like it's having a disco party.

I've made plenty of tiny mistakes. Areas that aren't shaded, props that appear and disappear depending on the panel, general errors in anatomy or perspective. Usually I notice them very quickly. Anything urgent and/or easy to fix gets sorted out immediately, but there are a couple I just left. If anyone noticed them they haven't said anything yet, and I don't think they detract from the overall quality of the comic or affect the narrative in any way.

Aside from obvious anatomy issues, I had this one character in my last comic that had a goatee and without fail I would draw the strip, ink it, color it, upload it... Only to realize I forgot the goatee. Maddening.

The goatee is like the glasses : the ting you always forget about.
(the worst I did was the legs. Updated the drawing with two legs missing. Awesome.)
