Out of all the hobbies, how did you get into comic?

Well, comics, drawing, video games and anime are part of my family, both my parents liked these things very much... so it was obvious I would pick one of these interests to have as a career xD

During the newyears of 2021, I had an epiphany. "Why don't I make a comic?". Initially, Idea seemed appealling. So I visited my old deviant art account for ideas. https://www.deviantart.com/delenga

Long story short, this made realized I really like FIGHTING GAMES! In high school I was a walking encyclopedia of fighting game lore (Street Fighter, Tekken, SoulCalibur, etc).

I loved the drama, the fights, the spectical. Thats what my webcomic feels like to me...
a fanfic of a fighting game that doesn't exist. (Kinda?)

I'm obsessed with drawing, I love visual story telling, and want a way to tell my stories. It also helps that my dad loves comics and collects them, so I've had lots of encouragement.

I like writing and I like drawing, but I don't have much time to do both. Combining them has been a good choice so far ^^

Grew up wanting to draw comics. Got pretty dang good at drawing...

Went to college for art and illustration and it was such a soul crushing experience that I not only dropped out but stopped drawing entirely for 10+ years....

Covid lockdown in 2020 happened and I needed something to do so I started a comic. Page 1 is the first time I drew something in a decade.

When I discovered the manga section in the library there was no going back lol. After that, the comic store down the street, anime, (especially sailor moon) and studio Ghibli were a huge inspiration.

I collected them as a kid but stopped because I was reading through the comics too fast. Years later I wanted to make Hawk and Flo Adventures as a tv show, I storyboarded the storylines and wrote scripts for it, until eventually getting into making it as a comic series.

My artistic influences are old Hanna Barbera Cartoons and Tatsunoko animes primarily. With some Jack Kirby thrown in, in places.

Manga has always been my favorite, and I have a talent to do anything that involves hand, especially drawing. I started making comic 2 years ago and of course I know it can be improved. I want to share the viewers and subscribers my fantasy story and I do have a goal that not only I want to have my own bakery shop, but having my comic popular.

You know how if you're writing dialog you're not supposed to use the word say/says/said you're supposed to use a different "more interesting" or "more special" verb, here's a big list of "Things you're should say instead of says"

I personally hate having to come up with all the different words, and comic books skip this step with a speech bubble, instead of writing "she says 'whatever'" I can just draw a speech bubble with the word on top. Then I don't even need to worry about coming up with a different describing word, which I greatly appreciate. Also don't have to worry about tenses or not using the word 'use' or any of the other behind the scenes grammatical stuff. It's just easier for me to portray stuff visually rather than grammatically

writing "says" or "said" a lot isn't necessarily a bad thing. It can even come off amateurish if you're constantly trying to avoid simple dialog tags. Whoever told you not to use "said" is full of BS. Just use whatever dialog tag suits the dialog best, and if that’s just "said," then it's totally fine. Just make sure that you describe your dialogue properly when relevant, and that using "she groaned" instead of "she said in a groaning manner" is most often the better option.
