Out of all the hobbies, how did you get into comic?

Idk I've been drawing comics for most of my life since I was just a kid and don't really remember a time before doing it I think it's because I love to draw and also write so making comics is the best of both worlds.

I started drawing my comics since 10. Escapism. Unlike into draftmanship of art I'm more into making a world & characters to live in, and also to satisfy my child-like fantasies.

I was in a culinary school once. I couldn't sit for almost 12 hours, and it lowkey drains as much as sitting and drawing all day!

Well honestly... it was the year 2006 when I decided to pursue manga, later I started publishing my first One Shots in book anthologies ever since 2009, but One Shots do not drain so much time like series of comics, right I thought I finished drawing comics just until last year when I'm not sure what demon got into me lol but I decided to draw my first (and probably) last webtoon, haha.

I fell in love with comics when I first knew that they existed when I read Asterix as a kid
in the 80s. I listen rock´n´roll and read comcis that why I play rock´n´roll and draw comics

For me it´s expression and communication which keeps me interested.

I wanted to be an animator, and a classmate saw me drawing anime-style drawings, trying to imitate what I'd seen in things like Digimon or Cardcaptors, and said "Hey, you should check out this internet comic called Megatokyo", and it all spiralled from there.
It's like animation.... but I get to be in charge of everything and have people see my work much faster!

Wanted to be an animator, even got the degree. But 2D animation is not a thing so became a comic artist.

probably cuz of Dragonball... I copied the artwork from that manga so many times.

My first comic was in middle school-- my best friend and I made a Runescape isekai featuring our friend group (before isekai was even a thing!). We got to ~50 pages, done with pencil and paper. We'd passed it around for our friends to read. Then we got into a fight so I threw it in the trash in front of him lol.

Because I wanted to be an animator
Not really a joke, but that's not why I got into comics, although this thought was something that got me into drawing. I guess the simple fact or reading manga got me into the love for medium. Angel Sanctuary manga was my biggest artistic treasure for some time. Making someone feel so much with one picture? Pure magic. I guess that's what I really wanted when choosing it.
Also Bakuman. I am only here because it inspired me a bit too much xD

I too wanted to be animator when I was very young. Kept drawing, but not seriously until a classmate put DragonBall in my hands and my head exploded.
After reading Tezuka and Ishinomori I was inthralled and after reading Naoki Urasawa I was fully and properly in love with the entire medium of comics.

Don't go a single hour of any day without thinking about it.

Ever since I started reading comics in webtoon I always admired everything about them but never thought myself capable of making comics because I thought it was too much work and it is!
plus at that time I had zero writing ideas just dedicated myself to drawing

Then when we got in quarantine I got inspired by many artists and gave it a try
now balancing doing art while making comics it´s tiring but fun

I always wanted to tell stories but writing novels felt daunting to me. So while I was learning to draw for other reasons, I just realized, wait? I can just draw the stories I want to tell instead.

Buut, comic making still requires writing and it's the hardest thing about the whole process to me

I used to doodle daily comics in my school planner in middle school. I then decided to switch over to a notebook. I tried to make my more original stuff instead of fanworks. I guess that encouraged me to make a bunch of OCs.

I think my biggest inspirations to create comics were Toriyama and Tezuka. But I think I was also inspired by American newspaper comics. I remember wanting to be a newspaper cartoonist as a kid.

I read a lot of these as a child;

Revisiting them as an adult I found out that they were made before the show actually aired so things are... wild.

But one day in 1986 I saw this at a local convenience store;

Bought it. Saw a guy with claws fight killer cyborgs in the snow, all drawn by the incomparable Barry Windsor Smith, and said, "I can do that with my limited abilities!"

Spoiler: I couldn't. I drew in a decidedly not-superhero way and I still do. Just now I lean into it and make something that's mine.

But it remained a hobby I played with for my entire adult life.

When I was 11 years old I just wanted to write about Star Wars and Harry Potter. That’s what got me into writing. The only thing I could draw at that time were Lego characters and I kept on doing that.

Around when I was 12 or 13 I wrote a script for a Minecraft movie about a Steve and Alex romance adventure story called “Rise of the Defaults” it involved Steve being an arrogant prince and he learns selflessness and kindness from Alex. The plot revolved around Herobrine destroying Steve’s kingdom and murdering the king. But anyway that was my first script.

And then I got into episodic storytelling when I wrote a Minecraft YouTuber fanfiction called “Slamacow’s Destiny” it was a mess but that the time it taught me how to draw better and showed myself that I was determined when it came to telling stories. Especially long ones.

After all the Minecraft shebang, I wanted to draw like my cousin who drew anime. And I did!

My current style was developed from when I was 15 and I decided to make my own original stories.

But when I look back on all those times, I knew there was something constant, I had a passion to write and draw and I still do. It’s always been that way and I always have a great time!
