Overcome your anxiety and just post the story/comic

Back in March, I had spent a year and half writing a story and was having it be turned into a webcomic. I had major mixed feelings. A part of me knew that at least the concept was promising but the other part of me had high levels of anxiety because I was scared people might hate it for xyz reasons. I toiled and tossed but eventually posted the first chapter. Little did I know that this would end up being one of my biggest accomplishments.

DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SHARE YOUR STORY. Criticism will happen regardless but if you never post the story you'll never know whether or not it can be successful. It is better to fail then to not try at all because not trying has 100% chance of failure.

Yes!! My friend had to really convince me to post my novel on Tapas and it's doing so well now! If it hadn't been for her then I never would have done this!

100% agree. Go for it and let nothing stand in your way.

Gonna add, use your failures to grow. Take away their power by looking at the positives, at least now you know what not to do, for example.

My biggest anxiety when it comes to posting my work online isn't the posting itself. It's if people will read/keep reading it. I'm perfectly okay with taking the plunge and posting online. My brain takes weird comfort in statistics and sudden drops in numbers spike my anxiety. I know not to take it personally, but the anxious gremlins in my head make that difficult.

I think I have the large reserve of hope, and I love finding my audience, but not getting a significant break dulls my desire to post in public. Still love writing, though, it’s just I wish I had excitement rather than expectation of failure when posting a new project.

I have seen stories of people not succeeding right away, and doing it with a later book, but it’s more common to hit it out of the gates. So, yes, as years go by, I just know that it’s me, not any other factor.

This is such a good post! And so true! I was originally afraid that no one would want to read my novel because of the obscure topics and overall dark nature, but I've been pleasantly surprised to see the support just keeps increasing over the years. ;w; <3

I've been there. When I got the idea for my webcomic almost five years ago, I was so scared and anxious about making it public that I spent those years devolping it to make it perfect. But now, I still feel a little anxious, but I decided that even if it's not perfect and not everyone might like it, but it's my story and I love it.
