Can I pm you about whether the character would qualify more as bi or pan? I really don't want anyone to be made to feel uncomfortable about bits that, well, shouldn't make them feel uncomfortable :1

(Sorry to be all serious about it) but I think being offended is fine! You never know if someone, for example, had a tough time coming out, and then some idiot gives the unaccepting parent a badly done redemption arc. Or even something as simple as calling a psychopath "psychotic" (which is the wrong term) could understandably cause someone with psychosis to become angry. Idk, I just like to think about what someones personal experiences are before I decide they're overreacting.

But then again, I'm probably just ranting at you for something ridiculous! Sorry to take the response so seriously if was just a joke, I'm a bit thick, and if it wasn't a joke, feel free to ignore me! Just my silly opinion after all : )

I am a bit hesitant when it comes to further advice, or at least I don't think my opinion alone would suffice if you go for a pan MC, after all (since I am kinda out of touch with the pan label and all).

I could give you some insight on the difference between romantic and sexual attraction, though, since I feel like that could play into your story a bit—I mean, can someone be sexually attracted to a robot? Or is it romantic interest then? And since I'm on the ace spectrum (and bi-romantic), that's insight I would feel comfortable in giving. ^^

You can shoot me your questions, of course, and I can decide if I am qualified when I see them?

There is absolutely no reason to find this offensive. I like the fact that you're going out of your way to be considerate, that's super cool of you but at the same time try looking at your own stuff with a critical eye as well, as far as I can see this is a pretty inoffensive story concept that's the same as a lot of others out there except just pan.

The one thing I do want to emphasize for anything though, is that before you represent any sort of issue in any sort of media, make sure your story has more heart than moral statement because that's been a huge issue in some of our peers' works lately. Just make sure your writing the romance because your emotionally invested in it first and foremost.

Bi nb person here! Bisexuality can include nonbinary genders and the most current accepted definition is "same and other" or "two or more" (even the artists meaning behind the bi flag colors is along these line). the implication that bisexuality is binary exclusive is rejected by a lot of people in the community.

it wouldn't matter to me whether they are in a tin can or a tin can with a human looking skin, because to me personality > physical parameters. so there'd need to be something else happening to that robot to make the other character "fall completely" for them. speaking both as a pan person and as someone who wrote a romantic story between a pan person and a robot which turned human. ofc this is a highly subjective opinion, and your description doesn't sound offensive.

I identify as bi and I'm open to just boys and girls. I see bisexual as people who are interested in more than just one gender however may not be into everyone or might be into certain genders based on aspects they like about it. While a pansexual person would not even take gender into account.

I feel like with your story, you should focus more on the romance aspect and less on the whole "he likes the computer because he is pan". It reminds me of issues I have with Rick from Rick and Morty being defined as pansexual due to having a relationship once with a genderless/genderfluid being yet not really showing any signs of him being so outside of that one relationship. I dunno if the sexuality of your character really matters with a story about a robot.

I just wanted to make sure he had the right label, as there will be a big coming out thing, the main focus will be on the romance, but also partially on his struggles as someone living in a strict intolerant household, which is why I wanted to know but a lot of focus will be more on the romance, don’t worry
