I updated mine 3 days ago but I have been trying to decide whether I should change it. my thought on my new novel is to start in the present then go backward. the story is base on my own life but I want to set it in the future rather than 2001 - 2020. it would be good if I could get some feedback.

I am excited for my Christmas special to go live tomorrow. It's just a happy break for my world. The story also serves as a good finale before I start the next volume.

I don't even know if I'm a full panster or not, mostly because I've just never been formally trained to do creative writing, so when I do write outlines I completely ignore them and I don't know how other people...follow outlines...but I'm still writing my novel form of Alchemist Burn Outs, and just loving that it's back in novel format

When it was a comic, I really can't pants at all, and while I'm proud of what I made as a comic, it was pretty stiff. So, coming back to it as a novel I'm able to get my flexibility back, take risks again, and dive into some pretty deep character stuff that the comic just doesn't have. Spent like quite a while over the past week adding some new chapters in my backlog, got inspired to rewrite the ending fully (originally it followed a 3-book arc, it was very cycle of the hero, and that just wasn't doing it for me), it's been nice to get back into letting the flow of writing take over and letting go of a road map that just...wasn't right for this story.

Most people tend to be a little bit of both. I'm one of the few (that I know of) that are boobs to the wall and go for it.

Eeeeeh not much new here, almost done reediting chapter 2 for self-publishing. The first two are the easiest since they're only 36 pages each, but 3 and 4 are going to take a while since one is 40-something and the other is 50-something. That's better than not having any done though. Some of the other webcomic creators on a Discord server I'm a part of convinced me to run a Kickstarter after I'm done, so that's going to be a thing eventually. Gonna have to figure out how to make snappy adverts.

Hello! I'm not completely a pantser but I'm definitely close to it. Even when I write outlines, my characters decide to go in different ways haha. Here's what I'm currently updating:

Blurb

A man who lost his name...

Psethas are the heads of Circassia and the gods of souls. They always have been and they always will be--that is what the current Psetha believes as he waits for the day he will die.

A witch who is destined to kill him...

Bilana, who grew up in a forest with her mother, is a vud(witch). She believes she will live in that forest until she dies. However, she has a dream that changes everything.

A god who spirits them away...

The original Psetha interrupts the Ritual of Change and takes the duo to another time and another place.

Now, they have to race against time to fulfill the job given to them by the original Psetha.

What is that job and will our duo come out on top?

Hi there. I said I was going to think about this and I have and I keep coming to one central question... Why are you thinking of setting this in the future? The going backward part I have no problem with, it's been used before and successfully. But why the future? The reason I ask is because we don't know what will be going on in the future and if you go backward in your story how will historical events (that haven't happened) affect it.

Am I overthinking?

However, if this is sci-fi... I guess the question is moot and my thought is, go for it!

Well, I thought if I set the story around 2000-2020 it would be too close to my real self. Because I want to write about my journey from China to u.s. through a fictional character. plus I didn't want to write an autobiography

Ahhh, totally understandable.

My general feelings are again with the historical aspects of telling a story backward, but again, I'm very good at overthinking.

That said, I don't see why you couldn't place it in the near future. Because I'm a pantser I go with what my heart and gut tell me and if that idea is what is grabbing you, then, indeed, go for it.
