Im not sure. Im working on novels myself and Im not sure at what point to start one up even.
so... what are your thoughts on that?

I'll probably start working on more things top add to it and have them ready for when I do make a Patreon account. But I'm thinking once I reach 30-40 subscribers, then I'll add it to my story and start promoting it.

Same honestly, I mean, I write for fun and I think I'd feel very pressured by the monthly content you'd need to supply for patreon

yeah. same hahaha and just when it's useful. let's say you have only one patron and need to start working on a lot of content

I've seen smaller comics add them sooner, so I figure why not. And I'm not expecting a massive amount of people to join, even one or two would make me really happy. And I love world building, so I don't see it as that much extra work.

You just have to be upfront with the patreons and ask them to treat the Patreon like tips. Keep it light and informal. As soon as people start demanding X amount of content it won't be fun anymore.

Btw, make sure you link your tapas novel in your forums profile. I (and probably most ppl) have a habit of hovering over ppl's names to see if I recognize what they create. Don't miss out on the extra visibility!

I didn't know that was an option, and I feel like readers would be more comfortable with using the same page that's used for most authors an Tapas. I know I would. Plus I know there's plenty I can add on for a more immersive world.

I'm still new to this whole Patreon game, so pardon the question. If we did set up one of a series, how would that effect how stories are shared? I mean, do authors solely post their work to that site or if I wanted to keep sharing here, I could post one-shot pieces on Patreon? Still figuring it out

Usually you still post on Tapas or other places, and use Patreon as a way to offer extra content that readers might want to pay for/support you to gain access to.

no probs! It might help to check out some Patreons for creators you follow, and see how they're set up. They can get range from super simple to crazy complex, and people do some very cool things.

Yeah, I will. I like the idea of doing extra content. I have a lot of ideas for fantastic scenes between my characters but they don't really fit into the plot lines I'm developing.

Believe me if told u that I thought about that hours ago, I said to myself what can I offer on patreon ( even if I don't know a lot about it ), is it giving more information about the coming events, maybe some of them may change, and it's going to a bad thing for the whole plot that you want to keep till the right time when you reveal the secrets, or maybe offering upcoming episodes that I will upload, it's a difficult thing for novels I think ..

But I have PayPal account for now

I've known about Patreon for years, yet I was never able to settle on an idea. One moment I'm thinking of writing stories, then I jump over to making YouTube videos. It's been hard because I let the pressure of not being noticed get to me after a short time. But now, I decided to just roll with it by doing whatever it is I can on my own. And anyone who's interested in giving their support, well that'll be up to them.
