Hello everyone.
Sorry, I'm still catching up with the discussions that are occurring in this topic and I'll try my best to shed some more light on the situation and answer as many questions as possible. Please feel free to tag me for pressing questions. I'm here to help.
There's not a whole lot of transparency around this. So, Tapas does fall under a category of apps considered to be "user generated content" like Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, etc - which are policed more heavily than other types of apps. As to how other apps get away with serving more 'mature' content than us, I don't know. I wish I did.
Swear words are fine. Hate speech and derogatory words are a different matter though.
Yeah, there are going to be false positive flags during this process, it can't be helped. We'll push back on all false positives.
We will make a case and re-submit for approvals.
That being said, it's very rare for depictions of pubic hair to be okay'd in the app store. I am totally aware that in this instance it's not portrayed in a sexual manner and I absolutely believe in contextualizing all instances of 'mature' content.
At first, I thought this was definitely a false positive flag.
I don't think there's a real solution to this problem that could have been addressed given the time constraints we were put under. Either we get the app taken down, or we accept the flags and try to appeal. We chose the later.
