My dad is Mexican (Second gen I believe? English was his second language.), and he refused to teach me during yearly visit, so I never learned either. That's some odd selective censorship, but I guess I get it. My mom has always been fine with anything I watched, no matter how sexual or violent, but one day drew a line at freaken Foamy The Squirrel. I've joked with her about my grandparents, in all their unawareness, renting me a really messed up horror movie when I was 9. Same with my dad and accidently renting me Not Another Gay Movie, which is full of sexual nudity, sex jokes and profanity. A cartoon squirrel that cusses constantly though, that's too much! xD
Also I appreciate your taste, personally I grew up with the Scary Movie franchise, so they're all near and dear to me. You know the sort of messed up, but hilarious in the modern era, movies my mom loved watching with me were all the 90's disaster flicks. As well as thrillers like The Bone Collector and Along Came a Spider... also The American Pie franchise, she's a massive fan of those. Lmao!
That's awesome! The respect you got for your dad is endearing, I may have to check out your comic sometime because I'm a sucker for that stuff.
Lol I hate to disappoint you, but my comic is very abstractly similar to my background, at face value the story has nothing to do with my life. Honestly it's more related to a mix of experiences I was exposed to while growing up, mostly my mom's with how my dad treated her (Actually... I know an unsettling number of people with similar experiences to my mom in that aspect.), with the only direct relation to me being some of the mental health stuff.
