“She’s a hard woman, my lord.” Iola heard someone utter from behind Nesmir.

“It matters little, captain.” Esamus’ silken tone was unmistakable. “Eventually everyone breaks... it only takes that one moment of weakness.”

“Maybe we’re interpreting it wrongly. The writing is scrawled pretty badly after all,” he said, squinting at each squiggle. “What bothers me though is how so many Self-Awares could just power off and with their memory chip wiped clean as well. What are the possibilities, Ty?”

“The first is a possible catastrophic failure of the software which could be due to certain external environmental conditions or to the evolution of the code which is probably more likely since all are Self-Awares-”

That was not acceptable to Wrath, "SAY SOMETHING!"

He jumped, his heart in his throat, "Something."

hi... like your idea...
"- I don't think so. I dismiss having you as a competition whenever we leave. Your smile melts any guy.
- I still have difficulty understanding your flirting technique, Dede. It seems to me that rolling your eyes every time a man approaches you, is not effective. We can work this out if you want to. Or we can simply speak ill of men ..."

"Listen." Alex spoke the word forcefully, then breathed a heavy sigh. "All that I do back there is take on a job, kill whatever outlaw they want me to kill, head back to the bar, and have a drink while I learn which of the people I have avoided making friends with was killed by pirates that day. This... is vacation to me. I can stay a little longer."

Celestia gave Alex a pleasant smile. "Then I am glad to have you with us."

Elio chimed in with the usual praise: “ But that won’t stop you Andy, you’ll find it without my help in less than a minute!”. To exaggerate his statement he started looking for a place to sit, waiting for the other boy to solve the puzzle that they were confronted with.
“Supportive but not what I'm in need of,'' Andy responded while pulling Elio up.

(from a wip)

“Just that it’s good to know you still have some humanity left. I would hate to work with someone who doesn’t still understand my limitations.”

“I’m glad you are trying to make light of the situation, however…” Placing two hands on his leg I snapped his bones back in place. “I would appreciate it if you could show me a little respect. Me being three thousand years old and all.”

“Did she tell you that?” Iola raised an eyebrow at the handsome young man.

“No, but I think that is safe to surmise.” He replied with shrug of his broad shoulders.

“Exactly. Life is short.”

“Yeah, right. Let's say whatever it takes. But what if I still can't make him fall in love with me in the end?”

Oliver smirked. “I’ll change your name in my phone to 'daddy' and put a heart emoji next to it.”

“I’ll change yours into 'heathen who doesn’t brush his teeth before confessing.'”

“Malach!” Okarg snarled at the leering dark furred Laichanan. “That one, with the sticks, is all yours. Take her.”

“Suits me just fine.” The gangly creature rasped and leapt over his mate to land before his proposed target.

Tristan swallowed heavily; saliva clawing down his throat, "What…what is this place?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Ira smirked, the warmth replaced with sizzling cruelty, "This is my Island."

“You people of the civilised cities are soft in the head.” Iola smiled, trying to lighten the gravity of her situation.

“Yes, we may be... at times.” His smile sent a fresh wave of pleasant shivers through her.

“Don’t let anyone in, Ty,” Roy said as he made for the door.

“I won’t.”

“Your mother said I was better than the last guy you dated. Or something like that.”
“Oh, yeah,” Arthur said. “He shot me in the side with a 9mm. She was pissed. It kinda ruined her favorite rug.”

"It's too dangerous to go out in the middle of this blizzard, do you want to die you little brat!?" Screamed Pohg, he was holding him tightly, for him to not run.

"I have to go and help them, I have to go and help mama and papa." Said the kid with his tears filling his eyes, he couldn't handle the truth of his family's death.

Definitely more than two lines of dialogue. But I had a lot of fun writing this, and I couldn't help but share it here!

“Yes, Kir Ironside, that’s his name,” said the older blacksmith, cheerily. He made a friendly expression and asked, “So, what’s your secret? Why is a rich brat like you associating with my son?”

“No secret, no secret,” stuttered Daiden, hurriedly. “Kir is a good friend. And we decided to help each other become better. I can’t often use the services of my grandfather, well, due to my financial limitations. He even makes me pay a retainer fee! I’m actually not rich.”

“Your grandfather makes you pay for his services?” asked the blacksmith, cocking his head. With a theatrical scoff, he laughed out loud, holding his stomach for dramatic effect. He wiped the tears from his eyes and patted Daiden on his shoulders. “I can see the similarities. You and my son, you’re both idiots!”

Daiden added to the fun with a weak smile. “It was a sensible arrangement…”

“I’m sure, I’m sure,” said the blacksmith, finally. “Sounds more like your grandfather dumped you on Kir. Not that I mind; the kid might benefit from being close with the Lord of Fire.

“Anyway, where are my manners? I’m Anvi, Anvi Ironside, the owner of this establishment!”

From chapter 53.

“It pains me to refuse you, dear Iola.” He took her delicate hands into his large, callused ones. “But it will pain me more to know that I will be no more than... a means... to you after this.”

“You are right, Nesmir.” Iola exhaled deeply and entwined her fingers with his. “And you are a far better man than I... than most would...”

He gulped, standing up and moving away from her, setting the bloodied rag onto the sink, "I never knew you for a romantic.

Ira blinked, looking up at him with those ruby eyes before chuckling, "I am not. Perhaps Ori is rubbing off on me."
