“No matter, I can think of a few things we can do inside,” Anax flirted, caressing Patience’s neck with a tendril.

“We could do that at home. We came to St. Phocas to see and try new things!” she griped as she kicked a leg into the air.

“I have no such desire, sir.” Iola grimaced at Klaus’ hand inching uncomfortably closer to hers on the wooden table.

“Ah, but you haven’t even sampled my services yet.” The young mercenary placed his large hand over her slender wrist.

Scavenger rolled his eyes. “Okay, he’s late. Is that a problem? You don’t even like the guy! Now you’re complaining that he’s not around?”

“Of course I don’t like him. He’s an asshole. That doesn’t mean I want him to come back to us with fingers missing like the video team.”

He chuckled softly as he pulled his hand out, see ivory skin peeking underneath fresh red blood, "May I join you, Sweetie?"

Ira turned her head towards him, red eyes gazing into his blue ones, "While this is deep, it's also narrow." She smiled, raising an eyebrow, "Might be a tight fit."

"You don't think HE deserves it?" He stepped forward, his expression unreadable, the icy words tumbling from his mouth, "Even after he hurt me?"

"No. Of course not." She said it as if it was the most obvious fact in the world, "It's wrong, and it'll break something in you."

“Captain, we arrested this outlander. She was brawling in the street.” The second guard’s voice reverberated inside her head.

“Well, she looks a right troublemaker indeed.” The Captain snarled. “Throw her in the dungeon. Three days of stale bread and water will teach her a lesson... if the rats don’t first.”

Ep 5

– My ex said he was fine with me being trans and all of that, but then he started getting really cold and stuff when I told him that I wasn’t planning on having bottom surgery.

– Why would you need a bottom surgery? I think your ass looks fine. Not in a sexual way or anything, I’m just being honest! – Max just had realized that she could interpret him as a pervert and he wished to take back what he just said. – I’m sorry...

She grimaced, "A stupid reason. I can't believe you still want to talk to me even after that." She laughed softly, her hand rubbing against her neck, "Much less be with me."

"Why wouldn't I?" He lifted a hand to her cheek, long, delicate fingers gently tracing her skin, "I'm not blind. I know that you have demons. I know that you have memories that haunt you."

“What do you want with me?” Iola gasped, pressing hard against the wooden door of her room. “And why aren’t you at the dungeon? It is but an hour to midnight.”

“Let me in.” Kadar whispered hoarsely from outside the door. “Our plans have gone all wrong.”

Cocking her head in his direction, she eyed him cautiously. “Any infection?”

“No.” He placed the towel on the island table before fixing her in a cold stare. “You?”

“Have you heard anything about the Oracle, Alisan?”
“I have,” he answered in a cheerful voice, his eyes playfully squinted, his smile broad. You had to be his friend to know the truth behind this happy mask, and the truth was sad. “But I don’t indulge in fantasies. I’m not going to visit her. I want my dream to stay with me, as beautiful, unattainable, and unbroken as it is. It brightens my life, and I can’t ask for more.”

He was right, there wouldn’t be enough wood. She pulled on her black knee-length military jacket. “I’m coming with you.”

He scoffed and trudged out of the bedroom with her following close behind. “No, a kid like you would just be a burden out there.”

“Who are you? How do you know my name?” The mercenary whispered hoarsely, rattling her chains. “If you’re looking for sport, you will soon regret...”

“No! No!” Iola urged Nesmir to respond, almost at her wits end. In no way should the mercenary come to know of what she was doing. “You mistake me...”

Chapter 14

"You have wind magic?" she asked.

"I think the saying is, I will show you mine when you show me yours," Seth smirked. He almost choked on his own tongue as she answered, "you have already seen mine,"

Chapter 2

“Umm… please, I just want to know your name. I promise I am not anybody suspicious.”

“You chased us down and started babbling about how you can’t be seen. Even now you’re glaring at me like some kind of serial killer, and you’re asking for my name. How is that not suspicious?!”
