“Something is hunting Laichanan?” Hari couldn’t believe his ears. “Is there anything worse than those fearsome predators?”
“Yes, there are many.” Sora nodded with smile. “The Laichanan are prey to many even as they prey on many.”
“Well, I’m gonna need to head back. Thanks again for the food-“ Saul was about to stand up but the stranger placed its Bo staff on Saul’s shoulder.
“あなたは少しの間留まるべきです.” The stranger said from a famine voice. Saul was confused on why the stranger is stopping him.
“Uh, thanks but I don’t need a second course of food.” Saul said as he didn’t know what she’s saying.
“滞在!” she yells as she smacks her bo staff on Saul’s shoulder.
"Usually 'love' means butter, salt, and sugar, honestly," I shrugged, "and you still haven't told me what you're doing all this for."
"I don't understand," she said, the one active body scrubbing out the cast iron pan she was using. "How is love made? From those things? Why does that constitute -"
"Just give me the damn food."
“Good. Wait for me and don’t be surprised by my changes later.”
Both of them chuckled. Then, Carter kiss on the back of Selena’s hand before he stepped back to do a teleportation.
“Let’s surprise each other.”
Selena’s smile widened as if she said yes. Then, Carter’s body slowly disappeared from her sight.
“It’s quite wonderful now.” He heard Yuma tell his cousin. “But after dark, this place becomes something else, so terrifying.”
“Especially when there are Laichanan about.” Hari added for her with a snort.
“We can’t remain here, Okarg… Taunena has whelped, and the newborn needs food.” Okana held up the squirming new addition to their pack in her hands.
“It has to survive on its mother’s milk for now.” He replied, scratching his narrow chin.
"Why on Earth do you even own a car with no back seat?"
"You know, it was never really a problem until I got mixed up with your merry band of supernatural idiots. Several of which I am trained to kill or incapacitate on sight."

“I will do no such…” The injured Laichanan began, but Okarg silenced him with a large foot pressing down on his throat.
“You know the laws of our forebears, fool - the laws by which the Laichanan live and abide. To take refuge with another pack, you must be regarded as the lowest of the lowly. You will do as you’re bid… or you will die.” Okarg had never enjoyed himself this much before. The pleasure of being domineering over a hated foe made him forget even the burning hunger that drove him into this deadly mess. “Now get up, we are leaving.”
Matt was only half-paying attention when she said that, so when he finally processed what she said, he swallowed some omelet and gave an accusatory point of his fork at her. “Oh, well I’m sorry that no one else lives on Riverside. I’m sorry that no one else cares about countering the negative juju your house leaves on us. If you want to summon Marion Marley again, then by all means!”
Eileen flinched but then said, “No, I’m good for now,” in a nonchalant tone. “It also summoned Vivian though, so it’s not all bad.”
“Seen anything yet?” He growled at the cringing creature.
“A great many things, my Alpha.” Even in pain the imbecile mocked him.
Loc: I could never marry you Heldine, my customs forbid it.
Heldine: You and those cumbersome customs of yours. Didn't I tell you that serving Mother is all that should matter to a man? Most men would sacrifice everything they held dear to be desired by a princess, yet here you are being ungrateful. But don't worry Loc, you'll come to appreciate true love after our honeymoon night.
“I see them now.” Okana whispered. “That tall male could be trouble and so could that skinny female we took before.”
“That one, with the crown of sunlit hair.” Okarg pointed at one of the female Humaine sitting on a fallen tree trunk. “She looks the weakest, and most tender."
"So you finally revealed your intent... you filthy malcontent." Okarg struggled between gasps.
“Your brother lies dead, and you will be next.” Malach crouched low on the ground, his large maw dripping with Orego’s blood. “And what’s left of your pack and your mate will be mine.”
"Wait, you're not going to be embarrassed by looking at my body are you?" Saul asked.
“Master Saul, I do appreciate your concern for I am a woman and you are a man. But I have higher standards for my ideal type of men and you are unfortunately are not one of them.” Misty said with a grin.

“We were ambushed by some Laichanan on our way here.” Arden said grimly. “We chased them away, but Sora’s missing. We have to look for her... once we get the children to safety.”
“Where will we look?” Hari sounded despondent. “She’s probably dead by now.”
"Over the years, I watched our friends come and go, warning me behind your back of the kind of lowly person you were, and every time, I defended you.” The sudden scornful laugh that came spewing from her mouth punctured a million tiny holes in my small balloon of self-confidence, deflating it in an instant.
Flashing a wicked grin, she asked, “am I supposed to care?”
Mark’s warm expression made her melt and she gave a little sigh. “I missed you.” Realizing her mistake, she quickly added, “Both you and Lynn.”
A rumble of laughter came from Mark. “Just like old times.”
"Being nice doesn't cost you anything, Darren." Jesse answered back at his friend.
"Sometimes you're just way too nice." Darren rolled his eyes as he pulled out his bass guitar from his case. Darren sat down in a chair nearby and tuned his bass guitar as well.
“I’m no good with a sword.” Hari shook his head. “I’m no good with anything at all.”
“Don’t be stupid, Hari.” Yuma slapped him on the arm. “Everyone knows what a good shot you are with a hunting bow.”
He chuckled, wincing from the pain, “But not well. I got beat.”
The orc answered with a menacing grin, showing off her fangs and tusks. “Well you should see the other guy.”
Monara tilted her head forward a touch, then back—an almost-mechanical nod. “The day we first met was that of the commemoration of the Treaty between our worlds. I have reflected much upon this, on how much I would have never witnessed and experienced had it not been for humankind’s willingness to trust the people of my world. Or that of the Glints.”
Faye just smiled and nodded. “Kinda ironic, isn’t it?”
Ira's small smile turned into a snarl at the tone in his voice, before she calmed the flame, "Remember my gift? Today is the day." She grinned and stepped closer to him.
With each step she took closer, he tried to shift back. All the way as far back as he could go. He could feel despair grip his throat as his back hit the wall next to his all too cozy cot, "Right, the 'gift.'" He sneered softly, eyes downcast as she sat next to him, "Does it come with another beating? I miss that oh so very much."
Another round of grumbling. "No, I shouldn't have to babysit you to keep you from running away from your duties. Just go on patrol, and we'll find some other time to hang out."
"Aww, fine. But don't blame me if I get distracted and 'run away from my duties' again, ain't my fault I don't have someone responsible to keep track of me."
“Those cries...” Hari said. “...don’t sound Humaine.”
“And look, there.” Yuma pointed. “More dead bodies... Laichanan all of them.”
„Your name was Toby, right?“
„Yeah?“
„When the time comes, I will crush you like a fly.“
„.... ooookay.“ Toby took a step to the side.
“Don’t you think we should relax for a bit at least?”
“How can relax when my brother’s life is on the line?”
“We can’t kill it for the way its race is?” Maedra argued, surprising even herself. “It’s just a harmless little baby. Look, it’s barely able to see... the poor thing.”
“What do you suppose we do then?” Hari scowled, tightening his grip on the iron poker he held.
“The director’s son is murdering clients, and you feel uncomfortable!? Come on Maggie, something needs to be done!”
“What should I do?”
You killed her!” Ahiko exclaimed. As they ran through the woods and reached a clearing. Rokuzo turned to her quietly. “She is unconscious, I was counting.” He paused, “If I did it right.
“And its mother?” Rubia asked instead. “Won’t it come after...?”
“They are dead, its parents.” Maedra replied sadly. “I couldn’t let them kill it... it can’t be held responsible for what others did.”
“I am Arden, son of Echtor.” The boy’s chest puffed up. “I am a friend to Eldrek, commander of the Diabane outpost. And friend to Brenrek and Angrek as well.”
“Well met, young Arden.” Kadrek was impressed by the boy’s confidence. “Aye, Eldrek indeed commands at the outpost. Brenrek and Angrek are my brothers-in-arms. Echtor is well known among us; the chieftain of Anglathe. And you... are his son?”
“The Laichanan carrying her off was heading north.” Kadrek offered, licking his fingers. “But he could have taken her anywhere. Mmm, this is the best roast boar I have ever had.”
“Yes, it is.” The slender boy holding the largest piece of meat grinned. “My cousin Rubia’s got a natural talent when it comes to cooking. She’s the best.”
“But he’s just a baby... he cannot...” The girl protested and rose to her feet in alarm.
“Laichanan are not like you Humaine.” Kadrek stated, leaning back against the tree. “You may have noticed that your newborn pet is now twice as large since you found it. They grow fast, especially when fed on meat and blood.”
Not exactly two lines but I thought a little more context was necessary.
"Thank you," I said.
He sniffed again with a raised chin. "For what?"
"For not forgiving me."
He nodded. "You're welcome."
“So Daren, have you thought about my proposal?” he inquired, looking straight into the younger man’s eyes.
The latter tried to resist the urge to avert his gaze, “I’m afraid my answer remains the same, my Lord…” Daren asserted.
“Shouldn’t you be locked away somewhere dark and gloomy to prep yourself to become a vampire?” Kerren knew right away he shouldn’t have said that. That was one of the mental rules he had made for himself, never back talk Ice or Talon.
Talon quirked an eyebrow, “Here I thought that smart mouth would have been beaten out of you…. Let’s give you a quick refresher about why you don’t use that mouth….” Talon grabbed the front of Kerren’s shirt before putting the lit end just below Kerren’s shirt collar.
