Yay! It really needs to be a genre. I don't know what else people are meant to call all the books out there that are real-world-grounded fantasy but don't take place in a big city!

Eidolons (I stole the name from a Walt Whitman poem, but I think they're originally some kind of ancient Greek... something?) are spooky ghosty things that glom onto you during the times when you would least like a spooky ghosty thing following you around. They're definitely an imperfect metaphor, but where dementors = depression in the Harry Potter books, eidolons = anxiety in my novel.

Yes! You’re one I subbed to within the first week and I still haven’t read through (I’m so sorry!) but I promise I will! I have a whole system for working my way through my reading list except life has been extra crazy recently and it’s thrown off my groove : insert pissed off Kuzko face here : (I’m about to move, so I’m pretty much just running around like a crazy person and procrastinating packing by sitting in the forums I have healthy coping skills LOL)

Just out of curiosity, why/how did you decide on a book 2? Did you have your main storyline arc finish up for your first book but you had another storyline arc in mind? Was there a reason you didn’t just make book 1 longer?
