Chill comments can be great! Especially from consistent readers! I know I don’t always formulate deep comments, but I figure any comments are better than no comments, right? I mean, I will regularly comment with my favorite sentence or phrase from an episode - words are our art, so I want to make sure the author knows exactly which little piece stood out to me. Or maybe I’m just a super weirdo (with a cape! Yay!)
Feedback is just hard altogether. Because we have a vision for our story. But there’s the technical aspect to consider (grammar, spelling). And then there’s the generic “one size fits all” type of stuff (classic formatting). And finding a balance that works well for our story, our voice, our characters... it’s hard! And constructive criticism is nice, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy to apply the beauty - and hardship - to any art is that there is no one way to do it. Which is wonderful to get all the varying perspectives, but can also be extremely difficult when it’s not appreciated “properly.”
Just out of curiosity, what exactly are you doubting? (If it’s sensitive or private, no worries - or you can always message me.)
Okay, fluff and angst is pretty much my favorite (and I’m pretty sure I have your story opened in one of my many, many tabs ) and balance is so hard!! Is there too much description? Too little? What about dialogue? Is it too slow? Too fast? My constant anxiety And, as much as (super negative) criticism sucks, only getting neutral replies gives you nothing to go on! That can be really frustrating! (Would you like me to message you with constructive criticism after I read? I don’t know how helpful that would be, but I can if you would like.)
