Oh, basically, it was a small Spanish company making a rather ambitious game. A friend who was working with them got me to help them, and we both completed a series of pictures for them (they demanded CRAZY standards of quality for a really, really sad amount of money, because it was "a favor") but the boss kept making up excuses and excuses about when and why the transfers were being delayed, and all sorts of bullcrap. We never saw any money, and since the amount was so sad (only 100 euros each picture, and I only managed to complete two in total) we didn't see any point in suing because that'd be more expensive. But in a fantastic karmic twist, his company soon closed, he kicked every programmer out without having paid them for months, and now he's drowning in plaints.
An aesop: in my life experience, every Spanish company refuses to pay in the end. Don't work for Spanish companies.
