Posting on Webcomics App? Webcomic App Submissions

Hello,

I was considering posting on Webcomics App in the future.

It says they accept submissions.
Do they have a non-exclusive contract? One where I can post my webtoon on other sites and print my own book?

Anyone have experience posting on there?

I do not want to sign an exclusive contract. Previous WEBTOON contract drama makes me really averse to it.

Their usual contract is a non-exclusive contract by default and you might gain one or two readers there if your work is good, so it's alright if you just want to upload your work there for fun. But if you want genuine interaction, you should probably look elsewhere. The platform is practically dead by now (none of their moderators or editors will reply to you) so you will not be able to delete your work there after uploading it and you will not earn any revenue.

Stay clear of Webcomics app

In 2023, a lot of creators were burned when the platform wouldn't pay them or answer their emails.

You can read more about what happened in this twitter thread.

The platform used to hire salespeople and call them "editors." Their job was to mass-DM or mass-email creators to get them to sign up for the app, just so the salespeople could get paid themselves.

And as DrizDew said, you can't remove your own work after uploading there.

My series is still up there despite me sending multiple emails telling the platform to take it down.

This will give you a headache if Webtoon or Tapas approaches you, wanting your series to become their Originals.

I heard if you email Webcomics threatening legal action, only then they may take it down.

What I found is that you can still edit old episodes, so technically, you could delete all the pages an episode had and then replace them with a blank page instead. (It says that an editor will review the updated episode, but it's an automated process, so it will be approved a few days later, or at least that's how it worked for me a while ago. Not sure if it's still possible). It doesn't delete the series, but at least the actual content will be wiped off the platform.
