Abelard scratched his beard. "If it is some supernatural force, perhaps it is the very one that plucked us out of our times."

He gave the order to march on. You and the others sidestepped around the tree.

It was a while before any of the others would turn their backs to it.

(hmm.. you roll for monster attacks and defences, i / idiot if he comes back roll for character and npc attacks and defences?

(so, you introduce the attacker, it goes for an n/pc - you roll attack, i roll defence, highest number wins. we could make it so the greater the difference between numbers (d10? d20?) leads to greater effect - a defence of 10 against an attack of 9 only just saves you, maybe you take some small damage from the move, or an attack of 13 over a defence of 10 is only half successful. we could set up a system for that, or feel it out per move to suit the narrative)

(I'll admit, this is a problem. I was thinking I'd use virtual dice to get a number, you do the same, and whoever rolls higher wins the action. Math isn't my strongest suit so I'm not sure which dice to use.)

(i mean, in that case, we could just use a d2 - going any highers only relevant when we have advantages, or theres different grades of win and fail)

(How about we use d100s, the higher number "wins", and the action succeeds or fails based on the number as a percentage score.)

(How would we verify it though? I was thinking we'd screenshot the results but in theory you could just take an assortment of screenshots and pick out the favorite ones. Maybe include the computer's clock?)

Gwizslaug the Chosen is a chaotic-neutral type, mainly because he constantly forgets which side he's on. He's maxed out on strength and charisma, and intelligence took whatever remaining scraps were left. He's incredibly loyal, but sometimes fights for the wrong side "just to make it fair".

Gwizslaug also enjoys long walks on the beach and a good strawberry cocktail. He's a complex individual.

@punkarsenic (I think we'll go with a d100. Anything under 70 is a fail. The lower the number, the narrower the win and the more painful the loss.)

@gwizdala (I'll just give you Herger. Please note that he's a period-accurate Viking. Anything blatantly ahistorical is out.)

"Finally, civilization!" Montoya said.

You could see the thatched roofs from the other side of the river. The houses weren't much, just one or two storeys tall, but they looked like humans lived in them.

You had to pass their fields to get to the village. According to Montoya they were growing maize, beans, and squash.

The village seemed deserted.

You hear rustling and scratching, but nobody comes to the door. It remains firmly barred.

Are there windows? If there are, I try to look into them.

Firmly shuttered. These are squat little wooden houses with thatched roofs. A raised boardwalk means you don't have to track any dirt from the main street.
