So here's a problem I've been having a lot with the Dragoons, especially as I've been moving it more towards the idea of a Video Game instead of a comic regarding the enemies.
You see, the big key thing in the Dragoons is the conflict between two species: The Tarako and the Dredge. The Dredge serving as the main enemies of the story at the start, too.
The problem comes in with conflicting ideas on what I want to do and how to handle things.
Because I want to to have a story about friendship, understanding, and unity where the Tarako and Dredge eventually see the error in their ways and make up, but I also want the big campy Super Sentai type of thing where you also have a horde of campy villains and interesting enemies to fight as well with a more of a "Clear Cut" conflict (I've decided that I'm probably gonna save the morally grey ideas there for a different setting and story idea I have.)
The big problem comes in with the idea of how I should go about trying to justify both of them, because I really don't feel comfortable having the heroes mow through hordes of enemies if they're all actually soldiers and people (or generic wildlife) like a video game and yet I also feel like I should have a bit more of a nuanced take on things because I don't want to get yelled at for being too simple or "problematic" or something like that.
I guess it's also this struggle of trying to grow out of a "Childish" mindset I seem to have and a fear of "Buyer's remorse" of sticking to things and getting them done if I think I don't like the limitations and outcome.
Maybe I'm just too nice/empathetic to write any form of action story be it black and white or more murky.... I'm honestly not sure.....
