Edit: I've been informed several people flagged this post as "spam". Just to be completely clear - this is information I'm gathering expressly to share with other webcomics creators trying to figure out how to rustle up more readers here on Tapas. I'm not selling anything, just trying to make life a little easier for the community.
Hey, folks. I'm Io, co-writer of Drugs & Wires here on Tapas (and elsewhere). My day job involves a fair bit of market research and analysis, and a few weeks ago, I decided to start using some of that experience to look into how optimize the often overwhelming work of promoting your comics online.
Earlier this month I ran a Twitter poll asking users how they're finding new webcomics to read. The answer, overwhelmingly, was word of mouth, with almost 71% of the vote. In second place: comic portals like Tapas.
So this morning I followed up by taking a look at audience engagement and comparative sizes for portals and directories - you can see the results of that here. Main takeaway: Tapas is currently the second-biggest portal after LINE WEBTOON, though engagement here seems to be significantly lower.
Now I'm interested in finding out a bit more about how people are using this platform, and I was hoping you might help me by answering just one question:
What's the main way you're currently finding new comics to read on Tapas?
- Spotlight
- Daily Snack
- Trending Comics List
- Popular Comics List
- Genre Tags
- Tapas Forums
- Other Channels (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
- Other (Please Specify)
Thanks in advance!
