There are challenges to it but it's not too hard! I'd say the hardest part with the models would be getting the right look you want for the characters down. After all the models are made though it's especially easy since you're just dragging and dropping things into your scene and moving around your 3d dolls. I'd say the hardest part after your models are made is setting up the lighting for each scene. But still a lot easier than drawing, and incredibly faster in the long run.
With the models there's tons of sites with free 3d models for BGs, and you can use Vroid for character models even if you have very little 3d experience. For my characters I bought some body and head bases that I then heavily edited to be what I wanted, and I used AutoRigPro (a paid Blender addon) to help me rig the characters. The hair I make using curves, everything is done in Blender for the 3d portion, and then some minor post production in Clip Studio Paint.
In the past I used to barely be able to do 4 (40ish panel) episodes a month with drawing (not even shaded), but last month I was able to do 16 episodes! So it's made a huge difference in my production time.
