While BERRY BONES is on a BERRY BREAK for the holidays - our next story starts JANUARY 5th! - we're taking a moment to look back and highlight some of what's been posted this year. We had 18 complete stories amounting to over 100 comics since April!
BERRY BONES is a monster comic following monster teens doing monster teen things. It's a comedy. It's pretty earnest. A bit slice-of-life and surprisingly relatable!
And now we're gonna go over some of these stories and give ya' a factoid or two! (We've already done some in PART 1 and PART 2!)

Let's start this round with...
Scouts Out: Summer approaches, and graduation day has come for the Berry Scouts! Will everyone make it through? What happens if you don't??
Something I always really admired about Ranma 1/2 is its ability to make the reader feel like every adventure was high stakes and needle-moving, but by the end of it everything would go back to the status quo like a really good sitcom. Then when you get to the end of that series and stuff actually STICKS it's like, whoa.
BERRY BONES doesn't do that, haha. If anything, we're kinda doing the opposite, wherein the stories and conditions for these characters are constantly changing and evolving the set-pieces. Or at least that's a long-term goal of the series. Scouts Out is maybe the first of that, where we're transitioning to a summer landscape, which means Schooool's Out (for summah!)

Summer Vacation begins with...
The Hovel of Love: Summer vacation is finally here, and Moss has his house all to himself! What's a boy to do...
This one really toed the line of where I want the comic to go, like, uh... s-sexy wise. Like, okay, they're teens being largely left to their own devices. I want heartache and mischief! But at the same time, these are hairy monsters and I don't want things going in a, err, furrier direction. It's not that kinda comic, I swear it!! These are Muppet-avatars for real-life situations like your folks going out-of-town and having the place to yourself!
It's never going to get explicit b/c I don't wanna see that private stuff! But innuendos are fun, right? R-right?? 9_9

Let's move onto...
The Witch and the Warheads: The scouts decide to prank the local - and very dangerous - witch!
I think this was one of the first stories I actually sat down and wrote out for BERRY BONES. The witch was in my last comic series - not currently available online - and I always felt like that character really opened up this world to me. And she does it with BERRY BONES, too, although that story has only begun to reveal itself.
Another one of my personal favorite stories, so far, and it won a little Ko-fi Discord contest over Halloween, too!

Now let's talk about...
Barney: The boys cross paths with a barnacle from outer space!
Every series needs a cute lil' mascot, right?! Barney's one of maybe two - the other has yet to reveal itself. The concept of a space-barnacle came from - again - my last comic series that currently isn't available online (You can catch a glimpse of it on Tapas under a little collection I call "Extra Tofu").
I wrote - but never drew - a story about space barnacles. The idea was they start off as mindless little creatures and slowly become sentient - and a problem! - if they aren't dealt with when they're young. Barney's already past that stage, so am I insinuating he may become a problem??

Time will tell... but let's get to our last story in this little wrap-up with...
Fire Works: The village is abuzz after rumors circulate of an apparent miracle!
This is a bit of a world-building story with the introduction of GOD! Well, GOD+S!! They're all basically kaijus, but I liked the idea that there were a bunch of little sects in this community as opposed to them all worshiping the same thing. The gods are all part of the same story, but their individuality introduces a bit of team-sports to the proceedings, which I think makes religion a little more fun.
Like, no one gets bent out of shape defending their God, right?!

We'll be back later this week with one more wrap-up, and then we'll be back NEXT WEEK with the start of our next story!! Hope you all had a Merry holiday, and I wish you nothing but the best comics to read in '26!
