Films like Evil Dead, Underworld, Dawn Of The Dead, Hellsing and found footage horrors are also inspirations
It spawned from a game Idea where the player gained power to manipulate solid, liquid and gas states but also became the carrier of a zombie virus. Other humans the player came into contact with would instantly mutate into a zombie and further infect others. The more people infected 5, 10, 20 etc would merge together to form more difficult enemies. It became a balancing act as the environment would force people towards you! Even worse when trying to rescue yet avoid infecting loved ones.
