Sugar and Smoke is the first entry in a planned Wonderforest story-verse, set in the Wonderforest, a magical country home to many animal-folk, Arcane magic and technology, old legends, fun school campuses, and little everyday moments that sometimes turn into something much bigger.
At the center of it all is Saint Maribelle's Academy for the Arcane and Mundane, a historic school where students learn trades, magic, craft, culture, and, occasionally, how to survive the horrifying ordeal of having feelings.
The story follows four girls whose lives slowly tangle together through friendship, romance, family troubles, secret histories, and the stubborn process of learning what it means to care for someone.
Aya Ribbuns, she is a gentle rabbit-folk baker with warm hands, a kind heart, and a talent of making sweets that feel like hugs.
Raveena Vesper, she is a quiet panther-folk who aspires to become an engineer. Though she knows her way around machines and their mechanisms, she nearly has any idea how to handle people's and her own feelings.
Mizu Angel , is a mysterious white cat-folk healer known for her doctor’s coat, her unsettling wisdom, and the habit of appearing or disappearing whenever she pleases.
Rory Brixton, she's a fox-folk athlete, a professional teaser, and a romance connoisseur. She is absolutely the kind of friend who can make everyone’s feelings weird on purpose for the sake of improving them.
