It was to stop Devlin from coming after my father. Since when did I worry about men like them? All they ever saw in me was my look—they never bothered to see anything else. Once they saw me, they wanted to do anything to make me happy. Once I blew them a kiss, they knelt in front of me.
My poor brother wanted to hide me in Paris and stand with our father against Devlin. But I am not a coward to hide, nor an idiot to fight a man like him. Fighting Devlin directly would ruin my family.
As I said, I knew what to do. I would seduce him. It would be hard, but I will get him under my feet no matter what. Once I’m finished with Devlin, he will be the one begging my father for forgiveness.

Hi everyone!
I’m currently publishing a science fiction series called The Rings of Tursan.

It explores power, consciousness, and what happens when the system that explains reality begins to fracture. The story is set on a distant planet, but it’s less about technology and more about structure — political, psychological, internal.

Of course, no system collapses without affecting relationships. There are emotional entanglements, romantic tension, loyalty, betrayal — and the kind of personal choices that rarely stay private for long. The story is written for thoughtful adult readers and doesn’t shy away from intensity where it belongs.

That smirk of his... She wanted so badly to wipe it off his face.
“That was quick! I knew you were the best choice for my personal assistant!” Ye-Jun said.
He is going to constantly remind me that, isn’t he?
Ye-Jun was now sitting outside his trailer, taking a break. “Pour me a glass, please,” he demanded. That ‘please’ sounded weird coming from him.
Noelle opened a bottle and filled a glass with the sparkling water. She placed it on the table next to him.
“No tray? I thought you guys in France invented savoir vivre,” Ye-Jun said, curling his lip at her poor performance.
She pressed her lips. “Apologies. I was born with an inherent defiance of conventions.”
“You definitely look prim and proper,” he commented.
You son of…
He took a sip of what Noelle served. "It's warm!"
She cursed the fate that had brought this man into her life.
“Six-packs are not usually refrigerated,” she commented.
“Then you should also buy a cold one, ready for me to drink right away.”
“I followed your orders to the letter. You asked for a six-pack, and that is what I got for you.”
“You are smart, right?” he told her, with a condescending tone.
“I don’t know anymore,” Noelle said.
If she was smart she would have run away weeks before.

Just like that, they were back to Felix. Lady Meng felt foolish for even trying. This hatred had opened with a denial of death, and she saw no end to this vicious cycle. Though she was part of the beginning of this tale, the majority of the burden was borne by Felix over the years. When Felix returned from Singapore, breathless and giddy that he had found Dante, she had only seen his tremulous hands and the way his smile never quite reached his eyes. She did not know the details, had never asked, but standing here now with Dante, she wondered if she had been wrong to stay silent. If ignorance had been kindness or cowardice.

Lady Meng watched as Dante turned his ungloved hand over, fingers spreading apart—bare, ringless. “Shouldn’t have bothered. They were hindrances,” he muttered, his lips barely moving.

He might as well have used that same hand to punch her in the gut.

Lady Meng stood, dumbstruck.

She had handed the rings to Felix before he left for Singapore.

She had chosen the silk pouch that the rings sat in for years.

She had brought the broken rings to a jeweller to be repaired. "Miss, are you sure these are yours?" the jeweller had asked. "They are far too big for your fingers." She had to conjure the memory of Dante's hands in hers just to guess at the right size.

The students were yanked from the jaws of death by their teachers, who are equally tangled in their own emotional turmoil.
