Kyara Stormsen:
The famous daughter of the storm.

Zachary Maciron:
The Lord remembers the iron son

I did not chose their given names based on their meaning. Their surnames are an invention of mine based on an inside joke haha.

I wasn't particularly naming my characters with some meaning behind them, so I Googled their names to find out!
Landon: Long hill
Brandon: Prince; Broom- or gorse-covered hill; Fire; Swordsmith. (I didn't expect this at all!)
Dex: right-handed; fortunate; skill; agility.
Leonna: Lion

I tried to hide some meaning behind their names that will be useful to them, like the male lead name is Do-yun, meaning, path of allowance. And the female lead name is Ha-eun, meaning, Sky grace.

P.S. Don't mind the cover!

I started putting more effort into naming characters as I went on:
Personica-La Emerald: it's funny because she has ears not like any other PERSONica, and then Emerald because, I don't know I'm a fan of sonic? Well I named her 10 years ago when I was 15, so I didn't really put much thought into it beyond that. Plus her family name coming first because, I thought it sounded cool and interesting.

Lolly Valkyjur: a deliberate misspelling of my sister's name, plus the Valkyries, because she is technically a female warrior

Isham Helsig: well, with her being a vampire, I thought it would've been kind of funny to name her after Van Helsing from Dracula. I forgot where I first heard and learned of the name Isham, but it means Home of the iron one; Homestead by the River Ise. But I only learned that relatively recently. I just liked the sound of it.

Esen-Ali MacBean: Esen means the wind. Ali means minent, high, exalted, noble, showing that she is the princess of heaven. MacBean refers to her (and I suppose her father) being pure and fair. it is also a pun meant to sound like essentially MrBean, as I had originally intended her to be more clumsy, akin to Mr. Bean, however that didn't come to fruition.

Kno Uffern: back to names I didn't actually think too hard about, Kno is referring to her being quite knowledgeable, but with no ability to speak. Uffern is the Welsh word for hell, and she's the princess of hell. Plus it also kind of sounds like oven, which a lot of people say hell is hot like.

Edger: this is also a pun, I'll be at one that is slightly modified, but if I explained it here, it's going to spoil a reveal I'm planning for later. Just know it is a very stupid pun. also, I haven't given him a last name yet, and I don't think I will.

Ellie is just a nickname, her actual name is Leonore which means light :3
Skully, well, he was named by Ellie because he is a skull, quite straightforward lol, but then again she was a kid when she named him :rofl:
Luke, Google tells me means light giving :sweat_02: He is anything but light giving lol
Artemis is named after the hunter goddess, Artemis :3

According to the internet, Jack either means ""healthy, strong, and full of vital energy" or "God is gracious", "Supplanter"; "Holder of the heel"

The other main character from my comic is named Otto, which apparently means "wealth, prosperity".

Mister Mimic is named based on his special ability. He can mimic anything he see's.
That being said, if he see's himself ( ie. his reflection ) he'll crash and his powers reset.

There isn't much meaning to the names of Sherry, Sid, and Marlow in my comic, but I did choose their last names as historical art movements and styles. As someone with a minor in art I learned a lot about different art style periods and was just in love with Rococo, Baroque, and Harlem Renaissance art. Sherry - who is named after one of my DeviantArt watcher's suggestion - has the last name "Rococo," which is an art style birthed in France which is also Sherry's birthplace. Rococo is characterized by often characterized with a depiction of aristocrats in elegant clothing and engaging in leisure activity, which is why Sherry comes from a rich family. Sid's last name is Baroque, an art style that was born in Rome and also Sid's birthplace. Baroque art is often characterized by strong contrasts of light and dark, which is why Sid's main color palette is black and white. And lastly, Marlow's last name is Harlem, which is from the Harlem Renaissance art born in New York and of course Marlow's birthplace is New York (as well as the setting of Sherry, Sid, and Marlow). Honestly, I didn't put much thought into her last name like the others but her last name use to be Neoli which is short for Neolithic but I didn't feel that last name fit her nor did I feel that art style period fit her character.

Her Beasts

Iris Hart is the female lead. Her name was meant to sound more modern while still fitting in with the theme of the names of other characters. The male leads are Caspian, Basil, Ember, Fern, Hazel, Birk, and Ash. As you can likely tell, they're all pretty much nature related to fit the primitive world theme. Basil is a witch doctor who uses herbs for medicines. Ember is a Phoenix with fire magic. Fern is a rabbit so eats plants. Ash is a scorpion so I alluded that with a poison name. I guess most of these are kind of self-explanatory, huh? >.<

The Dangerously Cute Dungeon

The main character is named Violet while her husband is Lee. The husband's name is just a random modern sounding name that is meant to sound down to earth and easy to remember. Violet always wears purple and even the dungeon core she is bound to is purple. As dungeon masters have somewhat of a royal sort of social standing and a lot about her suggests "fairy" with her cinnamon roll type of character, it just seemed overall fitting. Everyone else in the series gets names based on their race, class, etc. Humans get European medieval names like "Gregory" or "Henry" while elves get names like "Sylvan Moonbrook" or "Solas Silverleaf".

The Innkeeper's Dungeon

This series takes place in the same world as my other dungeon series. However, a fiery redhead named Victoria Maxwell is the MC here. I wanted something that alluded to royalty (think Queen Victoria) while also being a good modern name. As she ends up in an elven kingdom, instead of a human one, you get more elves than humans, so lots of names like "Seraphina" or "Eliath Autumnfire".

I will list the names that don't give the story away...

Astra = astral, star or the light
Psychoborg = a combination of "cyborg" and "psycho".
Tomara = tome, book
Oya = the name of the African warrior Goddess of the weather
Luno = moon
Rebecca = promise, bond
Ira = anger
Gemma = gem, jewel, luxury
Carla Cameron = "Cameron" is a nod to James Cameron who made several iconic female character

Overlord = common dark lord's name
Highwulver = Celtic version of a werewolf or beastman
Castor = cast, spell caster
Hagela = hag, witch, old hag
Pen = a pen that takes notes

Luminous = the light
Ominous = self explanatory

Some new characters have been introduced in "A Dozen Morning Glories" so let's go over their names.

Shaun means "God Is Gracious" which makes sense for the character since her mother is a very opinionated African American church lady.

Ayla means 'Halo,' which i think suits her perfectly. She's a little angel and a ray of light in Essence's life

Main Characters- Elio- Italian- meaning Sun-- named after his Nonno.
Maximus- Latin- meaning Greatest-- Dad is a history professor.

Side-ish character- Giorgia (Gia)-- Italian- meaning Farmer-- named after Nonna goes by Gia because Giorgia makes her feel old.

The main character of my novel, Yijun, means "king of joy" because he's so cheerful even though he goes through a lot while the ML name is Ender which means as written y'know, bringer of end. Because that's what he does throughout the novel, ending people & other creatures. I don't like it as much; I nearly named him Apollyon or Abaddon to make it really obvious that he's someone people need to run really really fast away from but those names doesn't suit him as much as his current name does. He'll go through a name change later through his partner because no one would be thrilled being with Mr. Apocalypse.

Nea’s name is literally just an acronym for “Not Evil Angel”. In universe, it’s just their name and means nothing, but in our world, that’s the meaning! Apparently the actual names meaning means lime tree/flower, however I completely made up the name!
Namida’s name is the Japanese word for “teardrop”, in reference to his bright blue eye. It’s also inspired by the great Maretu song “Magical Doctor”. It also sounds good alongside Nea’s name

Kittisak Ratanakorn (Kiet) - Power

Millin Channarat (Milo) - soft hearted

Milo, a cheerful yet impoverished college student, navigated his days with a smile despite his financial struggles. However, his life took a dark turn when he witnessed a cold-blooded murder by a menacing tall man. The murderer noticed him, and from that moment on, Milo felt the man's eyes on him everywhere.

One evening, Milo found his parents at the mercy of the same tall man. To save their lives, his parents shockingly offered Milo's marriage to the murderer. "Please, take our son instead," his mother pleaded. "He'll marry you. He'll do anything you want. Just spare our lives."

Milo felt his world tilt as the words sank in. "Marry this man?" His mind reeled at the thought, but he saw the steely resolve in the man's eyes, the gun still aimed at his parents.

The tall man considered their proposal, his eyes never leaving Milo. After a long, tense moment, he lowered his weapon. "Very well," he said. "Your son will come with me."

Milo's life changed in an instant. The cheerful college boy who once worried about exams and part-time jobs was now bound to a man whose presence alone instilled fear.
