This is a great idea for a promotion thread! Haruhi Fujioka (and Ouran High School Host Club as a whole) is awesome, so knowing your MC is partially inspired by her is awesome. Great taste and choice for inspiration!

My MC, Shinsuke Watanabe, is inspired by different characters. Some of them being Shikamaru from Naruto, Kyon from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and quite a few other sources. I recommend them all!

My book is a hybrid-fantasy/romance/action light-novel, Marry X Princess

My character Damien was inspired purely from guilty pleasures of mine, kinda like an own made comfort character!

(As for media characters, I guess he's slightly inspired by isekai protagonists in terms of being a generic-looking otaku gamer? Only slightly though, idk if that'll even come up very much XD)

Trespasser

Main Character: Kyara

The inspiration behind this character has gotten a bit complex.
Her modern version is the result of merging two characters together with a hint of Sekiro, Link from the Legend of Zelda and some influence from Ahsoka (Star Wars).
The 2 older characters that comprise her, "Animated Kyara" and "Cathrine Stormsword" each have a different set of inspiration.

First of Animated Kyara:
This was the first official design for the character, used for my bachelor's animated short. The Prototype of this design was firstly inspired partually by Rey from The Force Awakens and Furiosa from Mad Max. I later added some Avatar the Last Airbender elements to it.
Cathrine Stormsword:
This character was created side by side with animated Kyara, and thus shared some simular elements at the time. For this character I drew inspiration mainly from Final Fantasy, notably Lightning from FF13, Cloud and Sephiroth from FF7, with some additional elements from Avatar Korra.

On top of all of those very specific characters, there's a ton of tiny little inspirations that I picked up along the way, usually from browsing pinterest, just observing the real world and myself.

What character from a movie/anime/book/etc. inspired your character? Would you recommend it?
Rose: not really a spesific inspiration... but for looks/facial expressions, I use V for Vendetta and Natalie Portman's character. Have forgotten her name though
Andy: actually used Spider-Man as an inspo for his big eyes.
The music video for First of the Year by Skrillex also have a lot of influence on character design actually

Okay! Well, The Blue Fedora and Otto draw HEAVY inspiration from The Green Hornet and Kato. I'd recommend some of the newer comics, and the tv show with Bruce Lee, but the Seth Rogen movie isn't for everyone. The Blue Fedora also borrows from Dick Tracy and The Question as well! I'm a huge Question fan, but I really recommend the run that was illustrated by Dwayne McDuffie collaborator, Denys Cowen.

My main characters Crow and Ellie has a few different inspirations I guess.
Ellie was partially inspired by Hilda, simply because I was watching it with my kids at the time.
Crow has a lot of inspirations, a lot of him comes from myself. When I first created him I drew a lot of inspirations from Fuwa Mahiro from Zetsuen no Tempest (which is a really good anime btw)
I mostly try to draw inspiration from inside me, not from external things though.

Inspiration: I honestly don't really have an inspiration for my main Chara Osram. She just kinda happend... She was meant to be just a random doodle when I started a story around her and the other MC Xenon. Her temper is sorta inspired from an old character I made as a child (called Taifun) but other than that, she is just a weird mish mash ^^'

Xenon is basically the standard mad scientist type xD (because I love that stuff!)
