Hi, everyone. We're all just people, and that's just fine. We come in all shades, shapes, sizes, and ages. I'm in my 70s.
As a child, I was weaned on Tarzan hardbacks and Doc Savage hardbacks. I cut my teeth on Reader's Digest: Improve your vocabulary. I had a fondness for classical music, then later turned to rock and roll. I went on to world music and electronic. I like Enya, David Lanz, and Paul Speer, but I also like The Hu.
I was a solid hitch-hiker through the 1970s, so I've got a lot of cool stories. I wanted to write when I was young, and I wrote a short story in the second grade. One of my poems was tacked to the corkboard by the Principal. When I began writing in earnest, back in the 90s, I used pen and paper. After some years, I made it all digital. My first book was a fantasy coming-of-age. It was called The Faerie Dusters.
Then I turned to an old Idea. Since I had been a hitch-hiker, I wanted to write a story about a space hitch-hiker. That idea finally became the adventures of Besh. It included The Space Bum, The Old Man, Htohmar Har, The Gate Of Mor Dorain, and a prequel, The Regret. It was sci-fi, and my other series was also sci-fi: Star Seeders, Escape Through Esthos, and Mundus Vae.
I also did a historical drama based on the life of Jesus called Friends. I still have a lot of unwritten stories, but time is running out. All of us are creative, and we revel in it. But writing is not all. I tried art when I was young. I tried conventional musical instruments. In 2000, I bought a musical program for my computer, and since then, I have created nearly 200 musical works. I'm also into photography, and I love to run my photos through art filters to get an artistic look.
I've never reached any kind of commercial success, and I may not, but I did have one of my poems included in an anthology. I've never considered myself to be important. My ancestors were farmers and such. My great-grandfather fought in the Civil War and was wounded at Antietam.
My favorite books are: Nightwings by Robert Silverberg, all of the Retief books by Keith Laumer, The Books of Charles Fort, and the works of Friedrich Nietche.
I was born when Albert Einstein was still alive, although, in theory, he was not a relative. I'm glad to still be around, and I'm glad to be here on Tapas with all you fellow creatives.
