Pros and Cons of Tapastic?

It indeed a place to host comics...

It works better for some comic types than others, but it works for what you need it for.

Hello! I have only been here for two months but here is my impression!

PROS

• IT"S FREE. you don't have to buy website hosting or a domain, but it still feels a little more legitimate than sticking your comic on a blog.
• there's already an audience for comics here that's eager to find new comics to read -- putting your comic here puts it in front of that existing audience. I've been REALLY startled by how quickly my comic found readers on Tapastic!
• there's a kind of feeling of community because of the many other creators here; it's easy for creators to support each other & get to know each others' work, both on tapastic proper and on the forums!

CONS

• it's harder to communicate with your audience outside of your comics. Because the "episodes" can only be comic pages, it's harder to communicate news, or post little fun extras, or any of the stuff that would be much easier on a tumblr or a standalone site. You can post these things on your wall, but people who only use the mobile app won't see it, and sometimes people ignore those kinds of creator updates because the notifications get lumped in with other kinds of likes/comments/replies.
• the Tapastic audience is weirdly....sticky. It's hard to get a Tapastic audience to move from Tapastic to a different website, and because Tapastic requires you to sign up before you can like & comment, it's harder to move an offsite audience onto Tapastic.

I do think the way that it's harder to communicate things outside of the comic would make it hard for me to use this as my primary site, but I really do like being on Tapastic and I'm super glad I uploaded my comics here! I would definitely recommend it to anyone to at least give it a try! :>

I used to read on comic fury, and I miss having the "save my place" button. Taptastic has a "continue reading" button, but I occasionally hit the x by accident. I feel like the other website's button was more fail-proof. Really, that's my only con. I also wish that people censored more, and put the NSFW warning on all pages with cuss words. I'd be able to enjoy more comics if I could skip pages with language. (I'm not allowed to read comics with cuss words, and even if I was, I still wouldn't read them.) But, I still have found some great, family-friendly comics, with no profanity (that I know of.).

A really great pro is that so many of the comics look professional, which means more good reads for viewers. (But, more competition, too. )
